    another antenna tuning question

You've got a big point on that one Captain Kilowatt. I hadn't thought of the both antennas separate and not connected as in a set of parallel resistors. 9C1driver... I like that idea of how to tune. It does make sense. If you put a 50 ohm dummy load in place of one side and then tune the...

    another antenna tuning question

I guess what is bothering me is the math. If you have two 75 ohm coax run parallel shouldn't the impedance of the coax be 37.5 and then when you add the two 50 ohm antennas to it shouldn't it add up to 62.5 give or take. Now if you have a single 50 ohm coax with a 50 ohm antenna shouldn't...

    Display to bright

Window tint. Thats a great idea! I can add a resistor on the lightbulb to bring down the brightness of the meter and window tint to dimm the channel display. This sound like the way to go. Thanks for the ideas.

    Display to bright

I have a Galaxy 94hp and I find that the channel display is just too bright when its dark outside. I can turn it all the way down but still too much. I can then turn it off but I'd like to have it on just but dimmer. Does anyone know how to go about dropping the brightness on the channel...

    another antenna tuning question

Working on a new kenworth. The driver put new wilson 2000 antennas on it. Two of them as its co-phazed coax. I put my antenna anylizer on the feed point for both antennas. Where the radio plugs in. Im getting a swr of 1.1 to 1.2 across the band. Great. I then thought id check the antennas...

    HF and electric cars

Thanks for the reply. I seen the tesla sedan on tv the other day. They had a interview with the guy who designed them. Hes got more money then all of us put together. He also builds rockets for nasa. They say right now they sell for almost 100k but trying to design a lower cost battery and it...

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

As far as spending money on a vehice, im planning on buy a car anyways. The old pickup needs to be retired anyways. Might go with something like the chevy volt and not fully electric. Like i said this is all just ideas and i got more of them then i got money. :-)

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

I understand Cap Kil. That does make sence. In this case i think shortening both sides by four inches might have made the antennas longer but what do i know. I think it will all work out fine. Ill let you know how well it works.

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

Here is what i found. After tuning as i did and cutting coax the impeadance was 42. I went ahead and retuned at the feedpoint with my analyzer adjusting both antennas the same at the same time and got it to a 1.2 at ch19 and 1.4 and 1.5 at both ends of the band. Impeadance is now 48. I...

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

I have to say that you guys are getting a bit over my head on this. Remember this is only a CB radio, no amp and if a person gets out two miles hes happy. Any more than that and hes really happy. I think the next time I get a chance I'll tune the antennas at the feed-point to see if I can...

    HF and electric cars

Ive been kicking around the idea of getting an electric car as i drive about 50 miles to work 6 days a week and with the price of fuel... Anyway, has anyone thought about how well hf/radio without an amp would work in this type of car? Noise? Battery drain? Any comments on this or things i...

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

I understand now that shortening the coax is not a good idea but he was not going to replace his coax being it is a company truck. I dont remember what the impeadance was, sorry. With the pl259s missing this was better than nothing as it will work now but he might not get out as well as a...

    co-phaze coax and antenna tuning

My buddy has got an older peterbult and wanted me to fix his coax and tune antennas. Both of the pl259s at the antennas had the coax ripped out of them. I cut the coax back about four inches to find good clean wire and braide. Put new pl259s on them. I cut the same amount of coax off both sides...

    FS. Stryker 955

would be willing to trade. I'd like to find a 100 watt rig with GOOD ssb on 10 meters. Like the 955 with analog meter. OK, I might go with something like a 2950 or something like that but with more power and a good RX. Not a noise monster. hi.

    FS. Stryker 955

Stryker 955 Got this radio a couple months ago. Fully stock. I've made contacts to the French Polinision Islands (spelling) and Norway on it with a wilson t2000 antenna. so it works well. I'm not a fan of the digital meter. Works like it should I'm just an old school kinda guy and want a...

    Galaxy 95T talkback always.

Yes, with or without an external speaker. I guess it could be RF feedback. But I don't see anything that isn't factory in this radio. No mods or add-ons. Thanks for the input. I did take a look at the mic jack and no extra wire or jumpers. I'm using my mic and I tried a second mic as well to...
