jrd426,
I do not have a TS50 control head/display but am aware of problems with TS50's on the market. Finding someone that wants to sell a display may very well result in you getting another display with the same problems that your has.
The 2 video links below will explain the problems and...
That doesn’t make a lot of sense. With the power switch in the off position and the standby switch open there should be no current/voltage in the power supply.
If you were to measure voltage on the caps with the above conditions met, I would say either the on/off switch or the standby switch...
Jamie,
No.That is not correct.
The battery hooks up to the main circuit board ground (Battery negative) and the battery positive lead hooks to the circuit board just below the purple wire on the circuit. Look closely at the 2nd picture. The red wire from the circuit board attaches to 1 terminal...
I have one of these I procured in the early to mid 80's. I have been unable to find a service manual or schematic myself.
I have added a small toggle switch to kill battery power when not in use and have aligned it with an oscilloscope for power readings only. It works well for what I use it for...
The coax grounding Tom points out is not new. The last few I repaired had manufacturers dates of 2012 and 2014. Those had the coax grounded just as his picture shows above.

I have those same plans myself. Over the last year I have swallowed more prescription pills than food. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.
I recently gave up the hard physical labor for Management again. Forgot how crazy people really are, but my physical body is thanking me...
I'm not sure the 3362 means anything (but maybe the manufacturers model or lot number of the manufacturer) but the 501 is typically the value of the resistor. 501 meaning 50+1 zero or 500 ohms. 502 would 50+2 zeros or 5000, 503 would be 50+3 zeros or 50000. Should work fine if the leads are laid...
My first CB antenna was that $9.95 1/4 wave GP in the ad above. Paired it up with a 23 channel Megatone mobile radio (won in a church raffle) on a $14.95 2 amp R/S power supply.
Damn, I'm getting old!!

A simple mistake of a misplaced decimal point on the Cobra 2000. $400.00 is a fair asking price.
I'm sure it is in the process of correction.;)

Based on the above,(Rivermans homebuilt "Starduster") I think a metal mast would be a detriment to performance.
