FCC should just open up 11meters as a Citizens experimental band.

I don't see that.... the biggest reason to move up is More spectrum to play with...

    New Antenna up, FT8 fun

Thanks Riverman. I do enjoy SSB contacts for sure, Hell, I'd run AM if I could afford to play with the big boys, but I can't so I' m going to "run what I brung" and enjoy it.

    New Antenna up, FT8 fun

Couldn't agree more. I have ZERO interest in that VOIP mode of operation... might as well use SKYPE It sure beats picking a freq, and calling CQ, and hoping someone hears you to try a new antenna... or trying to break into a conversation between a couple guys running QRO, about 10 miles apart...

    New Antenna up, FT8 fun

A Contact is a contact.... besides, running FT8 allows you to see how well the antenna is working...and by your statement, every other digital mode (PSK, RTTY, FAX, etc) is a "Computer Talking to a Computer", so in your book, that doesn't count either.. oh well

    KL203P linear

If you check out my thread in the Export CB section, I have a lengthy discussion about this amp.. 1.75w carrier drive is about the max you can push it with 100% modulation before you start clipping the peaks Set the radio drive up so you have a Carrier of ~25w out of the amp, and leave it...

    New Antenna up, FT8 fun

So my 80M Dipole started acting weird after our last windstorm... so I had a reason to put the new Palomar End Fed Bullet 71" I had. Set it up as an Inverted L: 17' vert up the tree, the rest heading across the back lawn about 25' AGL in a South direction... Threw down the 2 15' counterpoise...

Raspberry Pi portable Ham Radio station

Dude, have you tried the HamPi image? It has everything you could want for Ham radio... I have been running it on a Raspberry Pi 4 playing on FT8...

FCC should just open up 11meters as a Citizens experimental band.

So.. when so we want to start playing with digital modes, since propagation isn't all that at the moment... A little JS8Call or FT8 on 27.415 could be interesting ... Just look at England, for example... They had FM only for a long time. The guys started bucking the trend and running AM/SSB...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

As for the MFJ-267 calibration... I used the above procedures, (I didn't do the Reflected Power adjustments due to this being a dedicated Dummy Load now). And it is now as accurate as my Diamond SX-600 (which I am starting to doubt the PEP readings on) Setup was: Anytone Smart CB KL-203...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

After calibrating the MFJ-267, I decided to do an Audio sweep the Anytone Smart CB TX. Setup: Anytone Smart CB KL-203 Input Audio From JDS6600 DDS Signal Genterator: Sine Wave 1khz @ 0.030v Carrier: ~25W PEP: ~100W Next, I setup the JDS6600 to sweep from 10Hz to 10kHz, Logarithm Mode in a...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

On an interesting note.... I have found some calibration procedures for the MFJ-267 on a Japanese Ham Site : https://www.qsl.net/jg7amd/equip/eqacc.html MFJ-267 - Dummy Load 1. Remove cover from mfj-267.(カバーは外さなくてOKです、) 2. Set switch on back of mfj-267 to antenna position. 3. Set high/low...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

On a side note... Using the adjustment screws on the front of the meter, I was able to "0" both needles on the meter Using the variable cap on the circuit board in the back, I was able to match the SWR that my Diamond SX-600 was showing. And by tweaking R120 on the front board, I was able to...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

So using my current "Parallel Pickup Wire" setup, I get O'scope readings like this with the Anytone and KL-203 Carrier: Modulated: Great for a visual reference, but not good for making true measurements.... because with the proper O'Scope feed and a littkle math, you can figure out the...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

So this is basically what I did: Removed the Antenna/Dummy Load Switch Hard wired the input lead to the load. Thayt gives me a 1.0-1.1 SWR. I used the old Output SO-239 and soldered a 12g wire to the center pin, then paralleled the wire to the load resistor, under the heat shield, the entire...

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

I actually use an old MFJ-267 "1500 Watt" dummy load, the one with the Cross needle meter. I drilled and mounted a BNC on the back and ran a "rf smapler" pickup wire down the length of the resister. then run that straight to the O'Scope

Let me know what you think of the FM... By the way, the audio gets better on these radios when you bore that little mic hole out to about 1/4"

    Anytone Smart and a KL203

Thanks Shadetree, I can understand that, but I like to see what its doing, and if I see Flat lines or Flat Tops, I'll back it down. BTW, that Anytone will pass Audio Freqs down to 100Hz. It loses a good bit of Modulation on AM that low, but FM passes it like a champ...
