Anytone Smart and a KL203

Bow,
It is a Toroid wrapped with 32 turns of 30g magnet wire over the RG-402. There are 2 resistors attached to the magnet wire. 1 to the sample port and 1 to ground. Very simple. The attachment shows the internal structure.
I built mine like the pdf attachment (^^^post #12^^^) except I didn't use "N" connectors. Mostly because I wasn't interested in VHF or UHF and because I had the S0239's (and I'm a cheap SOB!)

After calibrating the MFJ-267, I decided to do an Audio sweep the Anytone Smart CB TX.

Setup:
Anytone Smart CB
KL-203
Input Audio From JDS6600 DDS Signal Genterator: Sine Wave 1khz @ 0.030v
Carrier: ~25W
PEP: ~100W

Next, I setup the JDS6600 to sweep from 10Hz to 10kHz, Logarithm Mode in a Rise&Fall sweep over 10 seconds.

AM was Sampled from a RF Sampler I forgot I had (diode detector) audio output

FM was sampled from the External speaker jack on my Stryker SR-655HP.

Audio Signals were fed into the Soundcard of my computer via the MIC jack.

Program is SpectraPlus

Sweep Plots:
AM Signal is Purple
FM Signal is Cyan

Next I did normal voice, same sample setups
AM is Yellow
FM is Green

Interesting to note that the Anytone Smart CB will pass a wider spectrum audio than I can produce... now I don't have a James Earl Jones voice... but if he was transmitting on this baby, I think he would sound pretty damn good.

As for the MFJ-267 calibration...

I used the above procedures, (I didn't do the Reflected Power adjustments due to this being a dedicated Dummy Load now).

And it is now as accurate as my Diamond SX-600 (which I am starting to doubt the PEP readings on)

Setup was:
Anytone Smart CB
KL-203
Carrier (according to the SX-600): ~25W
Modulated 100% with the JDS6600 Sine wave of 1khz @ 0.030v
Diamond SX-600 calibrated on the 200w Scale

Average Setting for both Meters

Carrier:
SX-600

MFJ-267

Modulation Applied with both meters in Average setting:
SX-600

MFJ-267

Both meters in PEP Mode, Modulation Applied

MFJ-267

I believe the MFJ-267 is reading more like I suspect the real PEP output is on this combination of Transmitter and Amplifier

~25W carrier, modulated 100% should be around 4 times stronger, or ~100W PEP... if I believe everything I have learned about AM theory over the years...

I wonder is the PEP setting one my SX-600 is not functioning....
