Stability of a 2950 with the audio of a galaxy , 6 digit frequency counter, SSB, a decent sounding speaker, ability to go 40 over and under cb band, and I'll agree to a remote head would be nice. All this under $400 and I need 3. Power is unimportant as I'd rather have a separate amp.

I have no issue with noise or anything so far. I did disassemble it and used dielectric grease at all connections before reassembling and installing and I changed the whip to a little bit thicker and stiffer one.

I had that with my last one shortly before it quite working. My new one seems to only be visible straight on.

I run a tram triplemag mount with a TS 350 and now I'm thinking of adding a ground strap from one of the magnet bolts to the roof rack mount bolt hole for a ground?

Mine had rubber mounts on the bed and cab. I found bonding the two to the frame and running a ground from engine block to frame and battery negative to frame cut out a lot of noise.

The radio shack base just doesn’t have the receive I crave. It was given to me by a family member and I fire it up now and then but it’s not my favorite.

well my 980 decided to let the factory smoke out so...I just ordered a 2970n2 from Bells CB. Hope to be back on the air soon and able to actually get out. Currently using an old realistic base that is am only.
