NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

The distortion introduced by the NPC circuit will be MUCH less than from baselining the audio. Another issue is this: If you DO manage to drop the carrier to insane levels, the RECEIVING detector is 9 out of 10 times a simple diode.... And THEY can't handle the distortion created when going...

NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

I own a spec an as well as an oscope. What you are saying is textbook, and WILL be what is reproduced WHEN YOU DO NOT EXCEED 100 PERCENT MODULATION in a high level modulated system. When you OVERMODULATE in the NEGATIVE direction, you actually cut voltage off COMPLETELY to the modulated...

    D104 Washington Help

After rereading all the posts and replies, I'd be willing to bet the mic is wired for relay switching.... The G stand came both ways.... --Toll_Free

    D104 Washington Help

Try going to CBTricks, clicking on Radios, Uniden (or President), then clicking on your radio, then looking at the mic wiring diagram on the side... If that DOESN'T work for your radio, chances are someone might have modified it. It should go like this: 1. Audio 2. Shield 3...

NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

A video of what, exactly? I can see making a 'how to' if it was some esoteric or hard to source parts, but a pair of diodes and resistors, as well as a cap is about as simplistic as can be.... If need be, and I knew what people WANTED a video of, I could do one... But this is fairly self...

NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

No feedback / questions / this is what happened when I tried it from anyone thus far? lol. It's been a week for one of the most wanted mods and nobody posted any feedback from it.... Nobody tried it, could figure out how it works, etc? Anywho...... --Toll_Free

Palomar Elite 900HD technical info requested

I believe it was answered by Bob85 on page 1. It has a bias circuit, but it's lacking. It works, but it isn't optimal. IE, you CAN use it, but do you WANT to use a substandard design? If you're looking for someone to TELL you what to do, GO REDESIGN THE BIAS CIRCUIT. Merry merry...

    Black Cat Amplifier

After reading your last post, I'm telling you to do a little research, learn about input power, output power, efficiency, etc. It's a bit more complicated than me throwing a couple sentences at you. BUT, since you stated you'd have no use for such information, I can tell you have NO idea...

NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

Cheer j00 go!!! OK, here's the 'final' circuit. This is for the 'standard' model, no variable to mess with. The unlabeled diode is the existing 'anti spike' diode all radios have coming from the modulation transformer. You wrap the two other diodes around it. This is the way the circuit...

    Shottkey diode conversion for RCI-2980?

The ABSOLUTE best diodes to use for receiver and NB conversions are the BAT85 diodes. RF Parts and Mouser, as well as most others have these. I've spent about 90 dollars in different diodes... These work the best. BEST switching turn on that I've found, and the LOWEST turn on thus far...

NPC for AM Transformer radios is HERE... Tubed, Solid State, etc. ANY high level TX

I have performed the negative peak compression for a Cobra 2x family, or any other transformer coupled radio. Total cost, about a dollar. Switchable. I will be drawing schematics up later for a switched one (just set and forget), and a variable NPC that will allow you to dial your carrier...

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

The only prob with -47 all the time is it will increase carrier levels needed to get the "modulator' effect. All a "modulator' is is an amplifier biased to where no current flows during carrier conditions... Or zsac at most..... --Toll_Free EDIT: If you don't run enough carrier...

    Modified Vector 4000

Copper has a lower resistance than aluminum, so the lengths will have to be adjusted EVER so slightly. Probably not that you would even notice. As others have said, copper is SOFTER, so it will bend and flex. What nobody else pointed out is this: Due to skin effect, the conductivity of...

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

Chris, Sorry, just got home from So Cal... Been working through the thread. LOTS bigger amp than ya really need :) LOL The MORE NEGATIVE voltage is the cut-off voltage. Meaning, you want the tube CUT OFF in receive. And yes, you can parallel the zeners. When I did a lot of Pride...

Texas star sweet 16 vs Messenger 1200

I'll ask around, but I haven't seen that one before... I'm going to go with either someone's knock off (the original builder and designer of Messenger isn't involved anymore, but before he moved from San Diego, I understand their where a couple copycats going, as well as Victor doing some...
