Hey Riverman, good to see you here! Glad the Wolf River has been working well for you.
My thought for the Imax was it is a lot more wire in the air than a 102" whip, which is a good thing. Seems easy enough to mount it in the ground, and hold up to Texas winds. All the portable setups I...
I already have an end fed random wire to do that. It is difficult to get in the air sometimes. Adding a coil is common enough, except typically with a 102" whip, or one of those MFJ telescopic things (which are pretty fragile). I may have to just try it and see.

Hi guys, just pondering this for use as a portable setup. I have an Imax 2000 that is just sitting. Have wondered if you could add a large coil inline (Wolf River or similar) with a tuner and do multiband operation , say to 40 meters? Easy enough to break down and toss in my pickup bed, and...
Hi folks, long time, no see! I used to be on here a lot. Got my ticket years ago and kind of got away from CB. New job has me driving a lot, so my interest in having a mobile in my truck is back. Just curious who works on the old Magnum Omegaforce S45HP and 275HP rigs? My trusted local guy...
When the bands play right, 40 is very good for these distances during the day. Of course it goes long in the evenings, but during the day you can sometimes get about 300 miles out, and anything in between. Lots of fun!

Glad to see there are guys actually using these and testing them. I'm just sorry that it took nearly 8 years from my original post. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I think Bob85 nailed it... signal and readability. Although I have NEVER heard anyone say that after a signal report. And Blackcat360 is correct... EVERY signal is 5/9 on a contest weekend. Again? Again, again? Prefix please? K5AB...? Ok, K5ABC, you are 5 and 9! :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, mine struggled sometimes when I had it in the Camry hybrid, and that was with a very good ground via braid. No issues whatsoever in my truck. I knew what I was getting with it when I bought it (did my research). I'm the same way... casual user, like to talk "local" on 40. Sure has been...
I'd rather just slap a CB in than to mess around with that. I have an old Uniden Pro520xl and Wilson 5000 for that.
I am curious though, how does the 891 do with the ATAS on 11?

You probably already know, but there's a fan speed in the menu. I set mine to contest, and it basically runs anytime the rig is on. Pretty cool setup there, CB590.
