When I have time I'm going to remove tail light and knock off the paint so I get flat metal to flat metal. Instead of just the 4x #12 SS screws making ground.

Update With spring in place and RFX95 on, I'm at 1.2 1/2:1 SWR on 19. Moves a tad up to like 1.3:1 with modulation. Though I know that's not how to measure. Flat SWR on 28 and up. Like 1.3:1 on Channel 6. I'll call it good enough.

Sorry to hear that. It does happen. My original MFJ meter had issues. They did same for me. You'll like the 901 once you get it right.

they sent me the top blue part and tip again. Came yesterday UPS air from UK. Still need section 2 of tubing.

Try the local RF switch adjustment. (I forget whats it's called) It's in a menu. I set mine to like 2 bars which kills most of the white noise unless I'm deep in the city.

I used 3m velcro... though that 3m "body tape" is the way to be permanent

Ordered the FS HD spring for $13 in factory retail pkg. Should drop the SWR a tad. Just want to not hurt the RFX95 mosfet. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you. Wanted a Classic look slightly older radio type. Came across RFX at same time and wanted a permanent rig. Was tuned lightly to like 70-75 at full swing. Not near as quite as hard as say Bells that bangs 95-100 all day. I had it setup to last awhile. The on and off option is nice. 2-7...

Thanks. I'd like to see the whole rig but since I live in a bad area. I run 19 most days. 17 on occasion. I figured I'd skip rolls then 28, 20, 24, 30, etc with the RFX on. Had a radio check 10 miles out from parked here by the house in the city. Said I sounded good.

Have to play at 6:30 am or at work on Monday. 2 1/2 yo and no time. Lol

No real analyzer here. I do have a Nano VNA but I barely got that figured out for SWR mode. LoL

My tuning tip is almost all the way out. If I turn it in the SWR goes up?? Does anyone think adding a spring would help me get a better SWR?? Figured it might also help the bracket flex less. This is a 5' antenna I'd like to get lower than 1.3:1 with the RFX on with 15w dk. Does go up slightly...

Dremelled the S0-239 with 2 notches. Easier than unrouting the coax. :)

12' seems to work fine. Same SWR as before. 1.3:1 on 20 and better as we go higher in channels. FS 2 can't go any higher with the adjustment screw. Anyway here is the issue. I figured FS would make a better stud mount that has the notches. :confused:

Best I could do and kinda hides the radio. Only knob i should need is channels at most and volume. Behind the console is the radio. I left room for lid to flip up as well.
