There are some ferrite chokes present, but I wouldn't call it a balun. My personal experience is that adding a true 1:1 balun/isolator improved things, but it still worked fine without it.
You won't need any extra tubing to use it on 10 or 11 meters.

Ah yes Kop, but I can clamp an A99 to a 10ft piece of top rail, attach it to my trucks hitch receiver and work portable really easy, and in a low noise area (forest) it works al ot better than the roof mount.
Start with the figures specified in the manual (and go get stainless hose clamps - the ones from MFJ suck). I added an MFJ -915 isolator which really help bring things closer to what I expected. I can't find my sheet right now but I had mine set for the upper end of 11m w/ a problem.

The Starduster will hold up against high winds better than any of the others mentioned. Is it *as* good as a 5/8 wave SPT or Gainmanster? Well, that depends on how high you can get it. I have both a Gainmaster and a Starduster, I can't get the SD as high due to the nature of the design and other...
I love my LP-100A. The R/X/Z mode is great for dialing a manual antenna tuner. Otherwise, yes the Daiwa would be my second choice. I'm not committed to cross needle (though I do have one inline as part of the amp as well).
I also like the high SWR cut-out feature of the LP-100A. It has only...
That and the wind load. That is something to consider if you only want to do it one last time.
It would be my second choice after the GM. Then perhaps a SPT 500 or Maco v58
It could potentially reduce output slightly but not enough to make a difference (as STM mentioned)
Assuming your radio, on AM, has a dead Key of 4 watts and peaks at 16 with 13.8 volts, your current setup would (in theory) produce 3.65 / 14.62 watts.
Depending on the specific power supply I...
My Gain-Master has been up for over 4 years and is most certainly a [base] station antenna.
Due to the fact that I cannot use an antenna with radials due to lot restrictions, it is one of the few base station antennas that I can use. It's been a good antenna and I haven't had any issues.
