Leave it alone and enjoy the radio many radios will do an extra 5 10 15 or 20 watts but at the point of reliability problems and audio quality the extra few watts won't even be missed at the other end. That extra few watts may look extra sexy on your meter but sometimes plain Jane works it better
Qrz. Com is a good place to shop for a good HF rig but to answer your question about the 2950 or Lincoln I'd go with the 2950 seems to me to be much more durable then the Lincoln I have both. Also on qrz. Com you may find a nice HR. 2510 look in the Ham equipment for sale and general merchandise...
Mine has been back to the factory repair shop for the same chassis ground issues 3 times I'm done. To bad it's really a nice radio with a lot of fun features but screw being able to use it every two or three months. Mine was a first run I guess to unreliable with a factory inherent problem...
I run a 4 square array with fantastic results I'm using 4 Imax 2000's 18' to the feed point 36' apart and chain link fence as a ground grid and will out talk and out hear a 4 element beam at 40' with ease. have a lot of money and time tied up install and tuning but well worth it. no more box...
if you want the best between the 99v2 or the Stryker the Stryker is much better on SSB and has a lot of other fun features and will get you compliments even on 10 meters. but I do suggest check out two other options the Galaxy 95T of course you will have to buy a used one and hope it hasn't been...
the HF rigs listed you won't go wrong with but as far as staying with export or CB RCI 2950DX with an external amp like a Xforce TNT350 if want new or used Galaxy 95T if you can find one unmolested
all these radios are junk any more not much profit margin I actually don't know why anyone would want to even make them I guess some folks are just gluttons for punishment but thank goodness for them.
Mics you can buy brand new the Astatic Road Devil or D104 M6 but the very best if you can find a used one in good shape would be the Astatic 575 for amplified mics and the Sky thumper 65 for none amplified, I know with the Sky Thumper 65 I got the best reports on SSB
I still say the Monkey Made Big John is the antenna 55 copied I have two of the Big Johns great antennas the plus with the Monkey Made is the coil welds real good mfg work
i have a Stryker 955 with the same problem radio started out working great then one day on SSB the swr's peg the meter if I turn the power past 30 watts.on Am the radio works great 70 watts pep now I notice I have to run a power mic to get any modulation it's almost as if something is wrong with...
the Uniden 980 is a nice little radio no drift great receive a little weak wattage wise but a great little amp that will give you a little over 100 watts with that radio is a KLV203 it can be had for around $80 and matches up very well with that radio. clean audio very compact and only...
