im with Brandon on this one.
i was going to suggest the same thing he did.
try to set the bias.
driver bias of 0v regardless of the trimmer setting points right to that bias diode..
pull the leads out of the PC board and test it using the diode function of your DMM.
should read a small voltage...
a good place to start is to clean all the contacts on the pots and switches.
then using the service manual start checking the voltages of the IC chips, and after that the associated transistors.
If you find a voltage that doesn't jive with the manual, that's the place to start looking for a...
so you went with the digimax kit eh?
as i said its a good kit and does work when installed correctly.
be careful of static when working on things like this.
for example, working on a carpeted floor is a bad idea.
do you have the test equipment and experience required to re-align the radio once...
kc0mlt,
Can you be specific about what is different?
I do realize that wires may not be the same color, and there may even be different part numbers involved.
Between SAMS 207 and a schematic of a 25LTD classic i think we should be able to help with your issue.
All 25LTDs are the same on the...
just to add to Nomad's post, you can still get digital copies of the original SAMS photofact manuals.
here's a link to the one for the 25GTL which is the same on the inside as the 25LTD.

looks just like the original element just copper instead of silver.
ive never seen a copper one before.
im curious to know what the part number on the back is.

Good stuff Brandon!
the broadbanding is a diminishing return thing.
once you broadband the receiver enough to cover even most of that range, you've ruined pretty much all of the selectivity the radio has, and the receiver is one of the best parts of an MB8719 chassis.

Techno1,
There are really only two kits like this in existence right now, and one of those is the digimax kit.
It may be a bit expensive but you'll find it's worth it because these kits have been around for a a long time and come with pretty good install instructions.
that said, doing channel...
found that on pinterest if it helps anyone that wants one.
I don't actually have this item, just thought it was quirky.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

so glad to see im not the only one telling people to turn their amps upside down lol.
this 'argument' has been going on a long time and i'll bet there is an old thread here where we went deep into the know about it.
my DX400 has been running for many years and i can be extremely long winded.

if you really want to help out your texas star amplifier turn it upside down.
a heatsink on the bottom of the component is counterintuitive.
turn the amp upside down so the heatsink is on the top. that way when the transistors heat up they send all their heat up to the heatsink. (hot air...
bfrqrv,
I know it seems like if you give very good details that an experienced tech should be able to start you down the right path, but unfortunately there can be many causes for the same issues and you really need to understand the theory behind how all the circuits work in order to interpret...
yes Jeff it looks just like a 455a stud mount. the white cap is 1/2 inch in diameter.
i don't have any plans for it, i am just hoping to find out what amps it might have been used in, and what they might be worth.
i havent tested them yet but i have no reason to believe that they are bad...
The only thing i can find on this transistor is a chinese fake on ebay.
the part number is: 4104P1 and i think it might be a motorola transistor?
it's a "pill" style transistor with a stud on the bottom.
I got two of these, never installed, in a box of CB junk a friend gave me.
this was...
