That is not strictly true Robb, if you mounted either an Antron99 or an imax on a glassfibre poll so it had no metal counterpoise it will still radiate on the coax equally as well as a 10ft metal pole. In fact if you have a 10ft pole it will still radiate on the coax detuning itself...

Spot on. Imagine how many different half waves around the world there are affected by different conductivity of soil, local geology and environment. Decouple it from that scenario and you are in much better control of your antenna.
That was on a cheap GP and those were the results. Antron is better built and the performance increases are not as apparant apart from the lack of static.
You seem to spend a lot of your time lately Marconi trying to imply people are liars. Do as you will, you are now on my ignore list.
A few points to consider Marconi:-
1. I'm interested in Antennae, I couldn't give 2 hoots what the president is doing, what the pope is doing or why people believe in a fake God which was created to brainwash you.
2. I wanna know what brought race into the issue with you calling me a Limey...
There you go again Marconi, I never said My A99 had a 2-4 S point advantage over any other Antenna, I said I have no static which allows me to hear better. The subtle differences between being deaf because of static and not being deaf make differences.
There is no point you modelling my A99 in...
Hi George, long time no see dude. Nice to see you - we must talk sometime.
Never experienced a big mack apart from the maccy d version, I agree with your 'what works best for you scenario' though. I have a A99 with a spiderplane, choke and isolation package running at the moment and although I...
I'm not sure where you are going with this Marconi, are you suggesting that chokes will not get rid of TVI or some will and some won't? In this particular area I have seen Bob cure dozens of TVI problems with chokes including myself. In the last case the choke was placed a certain electrical...
I've just done an important test Between an Antron99, an Imax and the new Gainmaster. Having watched Marconi's tests on you tube and being impressed by the way he conducted the tests, I decided to do my test the exact way that Marconi did his. This is a breakthrough I believe and important data...
Firstly, the A99 is a static monster and so is the Imax, any amount of moving air (and especially in damp conditions) will cause a build up of static somewhere on the antenna and because the glass fibre section can never be DC grounded causes problems. Some people have reported up to S9 of...
I would also like to add this:- All unbalanced antenna's no matter what they are will try to form a balancing act with what ever they can get their hands on to do the job. Sometimes they will use the ground, sometimes they will use the mast, sometimes they will use the feedline and sometimes...
Eddie, you seem to have an idealogy that because GP kits do not and havn't worked for you then they cannot possibly work for anyone or in any other case scenario. I've had results with GP kits on half wave end feds, .64 homebrew and an Antron 99 which I am currently using. I have the mast...
Time for an update after 5 months of use with this unit. Cured the RF problem with ferrite clamps and several caps across the DC output voltage. The main issue with these units is they tend to drop voltage when under heavy load because they are not designed to be under heavy load in an...

This statement has me pondering Eddie. You didn't understand what he was doing with the three meters but if you did understand you would disagree? How can you conclude that you are going to disagree with someone without actually understanding what they are talking about.
That's...
Oh I agree towerdog, all those affect CB. Skip isn't usually an issue here cause we dont get it often:crying:
We use FM here which seems pretty good as opposed to AM. No one uses the side bands mobile here except on good skip days when the odd breaker heads for high ground for a days dxing.
In...
The lead paint might cause conductivity or VF issues if the current were to travel through it. On an imax or an antron there would definately be capacitance issues with the lead paint but on an aluminium antenna if the current travelled through the paint there would be VF issues.
You are being a bit harsh on distance acheived with some of these antenna's Towerdog. For example, I have a 30 inch centre loaded antenna on my tractor at work and get an average of about 5-8 miles with it on a standard 4 watts rig. On my car I have a Red devil base loaded antenna on a 7 inch...
