Radials? and the end fed 1/2 wave (EFHW)

It would be interesting to know where the advantage is most apparant on a A99 as to where you mount the quarter wave ground planes. Do you go for the proximity to the radiator by mounting it underneath the tuning rings or do you mount it at the base of the mounting section near the SO239? The...

Radials? and the end fed 1/2 wave (EFHW)

Using radials on an half wave end fed will not show any significant improvements unless you isolate the antenna from the mounting pole and choke the antenna. The reason behind this is because if you don't isolate and choke this kind of arrangement then the mast will change the electrical length...

Lol, not even Ponty Python themselves could understand Monty Python.

    IMAX 2000 ?

The radials ARE bolted about an inch below the tuning rings. You cannot see it in the picture. Bob-85 will confirm this when he see's it. Don't talk to me about BS, i've seen your video on you tube where you compare the Imax and the Gainmaster using an antenna switch. Again you are comparing...

    IMAX 2000 ?

Because the Antron's feet point is not at the bottom. There is a piece of coax inbetween the feedpoint and the tuning section inside the Antron. So the radials are actually attached below the real feedpoint.

A Sirio antenna is born. (not real, just a joke)

Further to this conversation I might add:- may I make a recommendation for Gainmaster owners? Mount the antenna at a 45 degree angle, glue a fishing reel handle on the exposed coil then sit a garden gnome at the end of it.

A Sirio antenna is born. (not real, just a joke)

Eddie, do you live in an area where antenna's get battered by high winds and adverse weather conditions? Do you think I havn't had Sirio antenna's? The Vector 4000 snaps off at the base when any high winds hit it, the 827 goes open circuit at the tuning coil after a couple of year, the 5/8th...

A Sirio antenna is born. (not real, just a joke)

Not many have tried them around these parts but we've heard good things about them performance wise. I'm not a fan of the direction Sirio have taken to be honest Booty, the Gainmaster reminds me of a cheap and tacky 1970's car dashboard when little care was taken about quality and presentation...

Minutes taken from the Sirio December 2007 meeting:- (names have been ****'d out to protect the identities of those who chaired the meeting. Director ******- We are here today to discuss a possible new antenna design in the Sirio range of 10 and 11 metre designs. However, the rising cost of...

    IMAX 2000 ?

Doc, you seem to have a downer on GP kits for Antrons and Imax's. Don't you understand that using your mast or your coax as a counterpoise for any antenna is just simply taking a stab in the dark? Think of all the possible arrangements you could have with different masts, coax and so forth which...

Just had this donated by a guy at work, turns on ok, TX/RX no problem until you've been TXing for 2-3 minutes then radio goes silent on am/fm/ssb. No RX or TX, turn the radio off, leave for 10 minutes, turn back on and radio works fine again. You can listen to the radio without TXing for about...
