It is good to revive these older posts, keeps 'em alive!
The 465 and PC122 chassie are nice to convert. I have used the crystal swap and had good contacts on 10 meters. The N kit is good also if you can find one.

A bit of nostalgia going on here!
Hoping to home brew a PA amp with vacuum tubes, something like the small Wawasee Jewel Box that uses a 6BQ5 final. What I am looking for are circuit diagrams and transformer sources. Not looking for kilo-Watt power here and nothing deadly.
I have built...
I use both with a preference with the solder sucker. Recent Ebay offerings are very reasonable in price if you do not mind waiting several weeks. The Chinese seem to be almost self cleaning as my old Radio Shack vacuum solder pull jams after a few clean outs.
Wick works well for me only with...
Traces on the circuit board can act like a fuse, sometimes.... otherwise deeper damage can happen.
Protection diodes will blow a small and quick acting fuse before damage can happen, most times the protective diode will be ok but best to replace it after a reverse polarity event.
If the...
I know that the amateur radio SDRs are software restricted to out of band operation unless you can prove MARS licensing. Several of the kit SDRs may be able to operate out of band. Then there is Icom's new IC-7300....

From what I gather about this install is that the chip has to be set up to the transceiver by programming the control micro as it is in the radio. Must according to whether it is a 2600 or Lincoln.
I do not see why either unless it is a ploy to garner more money.... I would pay but the cost...
I did get a reply on this from the creator of this mod.... I would have to send my radio to Germany to have this done but he never got back to me about the price and the post would be high! Not worth it in my books!

I read this older thread and I want to comment on my 'fun time' with the new Rosevelt aka Super Star 4900....
I bought mine from Bill's Two Way Radio back in about 94 I think? Size and layout reminded me of the Kenwood HF transceivers. Worked fairly decent, great on receive but the finals...
I still have my old Spitfire 454 all mode but no 12 meters. Had a lot of fun but you need a good antenna. I bought a 3 foot rubber ducky and made many a contact. Mudfoot is basically correct that it is mainly a novelty but when the bands open it does really well!
I also had a Dragon version...
I use a portable short wave receiver to hunt any noise in my area. I use both the whip antenna and a short wire plugged into the external jack, in this way I can change the receive signals as I close in to the source.
Sometimes I use my Kenwood F6A for its portability and I use a wire...
To add to the conversation about scratch removal....
I picked up this older Yaesu Ft-50R for free but had a large scratch across the clear display and across the plastic body, quite deep too! With the 50R's display bezel also acting as a magnifier for the LCD, this gouge was not letting me...
Thanks! I was hoping someone would have more details! WorldwideDX always pays off!!
I still have a few 2510s and a 2600, this may be a way to revive the 2600, just have to find out how much.

„FREE“ 27,410 MHz...
Doing some WEB surfing and this popped on my browser.... An Ebay auction for what seems to be a homebrew and possible Chip Switch replacement. I do not have the link to the page and the auction was over a while back but I did save a few of the photos!
I resized these to fit, not a lot of...
Your "swars" are good to go I would not worry about the small difference! The Workman meter is not as good as it should be.... Get a Diawa cross needle, about double the price but worth it!

Just got off the phone with a fellow at Magnum, I was looking for a cure for my 257 where the plastic lens keeps falling off.... 7 year old and this is the only fault!
In our conversation I mentioned the Optima and he is aware of the rig and knows how nice it is. Since the Magnum 257 has been...
Now only 16 days till I leave and two more for when the gate opens.... I will be taking a few pics and post them here.
Maybe I can meet up with BJ!

Looks to be a low level RF/IF counter. Input power would have to be buffered as not to have too much RF energy as that may damage the unit. Three ranges are available but not sure of selection method.
Useful for adding digital display to older CBs, HAM gear or receivers. Could be used for RF...
Just for info there is a date stamped or printed on the base of just about every D104 mic, usually on the schematic.
It is possible to use a more conventional mic element even an electric condenser element with the correct voltage this is usually 1.5 to 3 volts. The original D104 mic element...
