ChipSwitch alternative for the HR-2510

Doing some WEB surfing and this popped on my browser.... An Ebay auction for what seems to be a homebrew and possible Chip Switch replacement. I do not have the link to the page and the auction was over a while back but I did save a few of the photos!

I resized these to fit, not a lot of info....











Unknown who created this chip and application. The data is also scratched off.

I still have a few 2510s and a 2600, this may be a way to revive the 2600, just have to find out how much.

I did get a reply on this from the creator of this mod.... I would have to send my radio to Germany to have this done but he never got back to me about the price and the post would be high! Not worth it in my books!

I wouldn't pay to have this done to the old 2510. Not as a ham using one on the ham bands...just not worth it. I do like my old 2510 and sent it off to Doc in buffalo for a refurbish earlier in the year. He did some nice things to it and made some improvements. However the 2510 still has one on the nosiest receivers I've ever heard.

Side by side comparison with my HTX-100 and the HTX-100 has the better receiver design by far because it was designed to be a 10 meter ham radio.

main reason for this is the htx100 had the 2.4khz (FL205) filter and the hr series had the usual cb type 4.2khz (FL090 and variants) wide main filter ...another reason is the hr series used the same filter for the fm receive so needed to be wide enough to pass fm
you can directly put a 2.4khz filter in a hr series radio in just about any cb/export radio that has the same 10.695mhz I.F strip) and with realignment of the carrier offsets get similar results however the 2.4khz 10.695mhz filter is harder to get these days and quite expensive if you can find a decent source of them
the htx100 was a great radio but many cbers hated them due to lack of lsb and am modes ...real dxers use usb

any reason you can't buy the part and send it to a more local tech?
I'd get the tech's opinion before ordering though.

From what I gather about this install is that the chip has to be set up to the transceiver by programming the control micro as it is in the radio. Must according to whether it is a 2600 or Lincoln.
I do not see why either unless it is a ploy to garner more money.... I would pay but the cost of posting this sort of heavy transceiver makes it tough.

I was never too fond of docs receive on my 2510's. I had them realigned in Quartzsite Arizona and now the receive is phenomenal on all of them.
