Thanks for the information on the McKinley EU. That clears up some questions. I also agree that the band programming in the President radios is a bit annoying, when stepping through the bands. It would be nice if it just did it sequentially.

The US McKinley doesn’t have a VFO (pretty sure that’s true for the EU version as well). It also doesn’t appear to have a 5 kHz shift feature, which the Grant II does have. With that, I don’t think the McKinley EU would have a lot of use on amateur bands, or even on the frequencies beyond 40...

I think the GMRS license fee is now $70, and it is valid for 10 years, so $7/year. Better than the previous $85 for 5 year fee.

***rant warning*** I’m seeing list prices of nearly $600 for this radio. Of course, in typical Yaesu fashion, it will be discounted by hundreds of dollars after the first year or so of production, screwing all the people that buy in early. And I suspect Yaesu will continue it’s convoluted...
