Uniden Wireless Microphone?

Been looking at this mic again. Quite a few years ago, this local dude bought one for his 980. I was very impressed with his audio. I was gonna get one but never did.

Anyways, I want to make adapters to use it with my Icom and Yaesu rigs. I don't care to much for the clunky looking receiver unit with its coiled cord.

My question:

Has anyone looked inside the receiver? I'd like to eliminate the cord, tear the components out and place inside a tinier box with an 8 pin connector. Having a smaller receiver unit to just plug into the rig front. Just wondering how big the PCB board is inside.

I got one off ebay, but it's a dud. Flat muffled audio. Seller is sending a replacement.

Mike’s Radio Repair did a video on the President wireless mic, which is very similar to the Unden mic, but the President mic has a provided connector for receive audio to make connecting to a different radio a bit easier, however that mic is not offered for sale in the US at this time. (Guess because it uses a different frequency range that is spec’ed for the EU market).

You can see the innards, as he opens up the cases and you will get a sense of what’s inside. As for the muffled audio you described, not sure if you were talking about RX or TX audio, or both, but I have a Uniden wireless mic, and I find it more useful for monitoring “remotely”, as the TX audio is kind of weak. Hard to give up the nice audio of my Astatic 575 mic to use the wireless convenience of the Uniden mic.

Thanks for the video link. I was hoping the PCB in the base unit wasn't so big. That shoots my plans. I was referring to transmit audio being muffled.
