Ah, no. A solid core wire has more surface area. Go back and look at it.
There is a reason why the specs are better for the solid core LMR-400 than the stranded core LMR-400 Flex.
Heliax, LMR-400, 9913, all use solid cores. There is a reason!
You DO need to know the specs of the coax you are using. Even after that, you need test equipment to get it right because coax is not perfect and you'll have different lengths, even off the SAME reel!
An electrical half wavelength is frequency dependent and not necessary unless you are testing...
Lets get testing! Your opinions are solid and definitely have merit! Your own personal experience is the icing on the cake!
Its too bad L.B. didn't want to look into this further as he would have had the last word on this subject.
I was looking at buying the LW-150 from H&Y and building up...
I read up to "you decide", then stopped because I have to go. Let me just say that everything I've read from Bob so far is 100% correct! He has always maintained his claims.
I do want to be clear on one item. My stock Avanti 5/8 DID outperform my stock Sigma IV. This was based on personal...
Nope, I haven't invested the money yet.
You can direct fed almost any antenna. Just remove the connector and attach the coax directly to the proper elements.
I won't break apart the "Instructions" except to point out that the antenna is fed 75" from the TOP of the antenna. Its not 102" so...
Yep, that would almost cover it. You will have trouble getting K6STI's YO program however.
Dean's program is also a good one. Dean and I went back and forth on 15 meter yagi made in Germany. We modeled it and both were unable to to figure out why the real world results were different from...
He should have stopped right there. Oh well, but you all know Doc...
I have direct experience with Hi-Q and know Charlie personally. He builds a great antenna. However, I'm going this route instead...
Scorpion Antennas ~> Welcome!
I know Ron personally too. Charlie tested Ron's coils and...
That antenna will make an excellent MURS antenna!
BTW, what happened to all my pictures? Sigma 5/8, Force 12 11 meter antenna, Hi-Q quick disconnect, etc...
I have two Pride DX-300 amps. One was destroyed by Fedex (but repairable) and the other is still at Nomad Radio. He added the HV board and installed his new prototype low voltage board. The band switch, input tuning, and preamp have been removed and is now used to adjust the bias via the...
The MA5B works. Everything works. The advantage of the MA5B is that it is a multi band antenna. Other than the fact that it works, it is only an OK antenna......nothing special. However, i would recommend it to you based on your last two posts.
The Moxon is a much better antenna but is a...
Also notice in this picture that the ring goes clockwise from the bottom up. Sometimes they go counter-clockwise depending on what side of the connector bracket they drill that little hole. The instructions may show one way, but reality may be different (because of the drilled hole).
It DOES...
