Decided to build a coil loaded dipole...

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you! I do tower and antenna work semi-professionally. If it is worth saving, I save it. I have over 100 yagis, 25 rotors, 10 towers, coax, hardline, etc etc etc. For everyone else, if you live in Southern CA and are working on a...

PROBLEM WITH ROTOR BOX DIRECTION METER.

Tony, the 450 is too small! Get the 800. Yaesu will repair them in CA. Yaesu markets excellent rotors. They were originally built by Kenpro. Here is a link to a Kenpro/Yaesu rotor repair. W7KKE's Yaesu G-5500 Az/El Rotor Repair

    Need some advice

J-Pole Antennas You didn't state if you lived on a second floor or if you have a balcony. You could buy a wood or plastic trellis, put it outside, and hide a roll-up j-pole in it. Buy some fake plants to decorate/camouflage.

    Maco V 5000 issue.

What radio are you using? Does it have a stinger board on the back (like the RCI 2995)? If it does, make sure the coax jumper inside has not come loose. What are you testing the SWR with? Try a different radio and try a different meter. Check your coax ends and you jumpers. The chances of...

Yep, that will work on 20, but you will wish you had a balun when you go multiband.

    ANT help

First off, this belongs in the antenna section! Do NOT use a 4:1 balun! That was bad advice! Use a 1:1 current balun and call it a day. If you want build a multiband dipole, read this: http://www.dxengineering.com/pdf/Choosing%20the%20Correct%20Balun.pdf

    HF Amplifier

The "story" used to be posted on QRO's website years ago. I'm pretty confident that I'm correct.

    HF Amplifier

Command Technologies and QRO were once the same company. There was a split between the owners and QRO was started. If I remember the story correctly, the split was over Eimac and Russian tubes and Hipersil transformers......but don't quote me.

Is there really a murs radio made?

They talked to the moon with 1.5 watts. At VHF, its all about LINE OF SIGHT! More watts help for sure and YES, you CAN hook up an antenna to that radio (for the second time).

    Tube ac box?

I have no direct experience with their boxes but they appear to be built well for as far as bowl boxes go. $700.00 to $900.00 won't get you a new box. Start looking for a good SB-220.

    Tube ac box?

What is your budget? Are you serious about wanting a quality amp or are you trying to buy cheap with big results? The best CB amp is the Pride DX-300, but it won't take the drive from your 2990. It will give you a solid 500 watts out but you need to put a switch on the stinger on the back of...

Interceptor 10k or Jo Gunn Son of a Gunn

SO far the Merlin is an urban legend. I've asked about them, offered to buy one to check it out, and my requests have gone unanswered. It beginning to sound like a hoax. Even the pictures that were once on the internet have been removed. The Merlin is a Starduster antenna with a top load...
