The power supplies in the export radios have always been subject to catastrophic failure. A lot of people here set up their radios to use a purposeful EXTERNAL power supply. An Astron RS35M as a minimum. No more power supply worries! Just bypass the internal switching supply, or remove it...

The JB-2000 is a 11 meter mono band Heathkit SB-220. It runs a pair of 3-500Z tubes and is a good amplifier. Not great mind you, but a good ol amplifier. Its #2 on my list of amplifiers......right behind the Pride DX-300!

A modulator is completely different than a linear. You usually find them in broadcast transmitters. I'll let QRN educate us.

What choice do you have? You can get Russian tubes too. Taylor/RF Parts tubes are made in China and they are fine.
