You will NOT be able to remove the coil cover, just the stinger adaptor.
Switch, I've never seen a burnt up 1000/5000. While not impossible to do, it would be difficult.
Instead of looping your guy wire and clamping it with a cable clamp, they have coiled "grips" that wrap around the wire and hold it in place. Its much like chinese finger cuffs with the way they grip a straight piece of cable.
As the cable comes off the tower, you wrap a gripp around the...
I local here has offered me his Maco 105 as a test bed. He runs a converted Henry 3000D (3CX3000A7) and LMR600 coax. All of a sudden his SWR is whacked out so we are going to pull it down and rebuild it using a DIRECT FEED driven element. The 10K gamma is going in the trash! No beta, delta...
Let's review Robalo's picture here a minute......
First of all, you NEVER climb a crank-up tower when it is extended......BUT......this antenna system appears to be guyed (as suggested earlier in this thread by me) and he has positively LOCKED (mechanical lock) the sections using a wood...
QRN covered it perfectly so no need for me to add my experience to the mix. As far as being a "noob", it appears you have done your due diligence (and still are by virtue of your post), and I'm impressed!
I wish more people would ask questions and shut their mouths long enough to learn...
The V58 has a less lossy matching network than the iMAX 2000; which antenna do you think will radiate more energy?
The iMAX 2000 uses lossy coils in the base of the antenna. The tiny wire encased in fiberglass may be .64 long, but if the energy is lost in the matching network, little in...
What is the difference between the Mark III and the Mark IV radio? Why is one better than the other? I'm looking for an educated opinion. Let me explain......
The Mark III is a crystal controlled, 23 channel radio and touted as having the best audio between it and the Mark IV.
The Mark...
You get what you pay for. Based on your requirements, this antenna should work just fine. Remember, EVERYTHING works, some things work better than others.
I can't speak to the co-phase harness in question. I would recommend building one out of RG-11 however:

SB-220: 2 X 3-500Z tubes. This amplifier was designed for SSB use and therefore 33% duty cycle. The power supply is not big enough to give full output on AM. Drive for this amp is in the order of 100 watts. If you run it in AM and you want it to last, you need to run it on LOW/TUNE. Others...
Yes I do and you don't want the info. Why? Because the factory information will state that this tower should be GUYED! The city is going to have you for breakfast!
Its real close to a Rohn 25G. Count the steps on the 10' section and let me know if you have 7 or 8.
The base plate was...
Its a complete waste of money. The best bang for the buck is taking an old sweep tube amp and setting it up with 509/519 tubes. The tubes are cheap and plentiful......but still sweep tubes.
Direct feed means NO MATCHING NETWORK. You can direct feed a radiating element (antenna) with coax or balanced line.
The term "coax feed" just means you are feeding the antenna with coax and should not be confused with a "direct feed".
Does your antenna have some sort of matching network...
