Mine seems fine, albeit I am not getting a good "swing" into to it. Its the non driver version 500v. I posted in other threads about my issues, basically my radios not matched to it well. Hopefully you will get it sorted soon - sorry to hear about this.
I would like to upgrade the power wires...
Great post Bob, my first rig was a Fidelity 3000 home base unit, the magmount was on a biscuit tin ( cookies tin) outside the 1st floor (2nd floor) window. Back in the early 80s. I vaguely remember that on either low or high channels one of the two, no or low power would show on the meter. I...
Thanks for the reply, I think this time I will allow a tech with apparatus to adjust my 955 pots to work optimally with the dx500v amp.
Just for the record, i didnt run any modulation when I increased the deadkey on the radio until the amp was dking 400w. It was a mere clockwise turn on the RF...
The legendary Psycho responds ;-) read so many of your past posts with great interest and knowledge, cheers.
Back to the question, the two fans are blowing up into the heatsinks of the amp.
I read few negatives about copper, hence I stayed away from them. Paid 40 more from Delta Electronics in Brooklyn , they operate under that name on ebay I posted earlier.
Its a great CW amp ;-) lol
LOL, that Zane Johnson bought that amp from a known dealer that stated in his description that the unit wasnt working, yet the guy still complains? I dont get that.
Let me put it another way, why would a person in a business of radio repairs sell them untested? That in itself is a red flag for...
Yes, I agree. So the 955 isn't giving me the "correct" 1:4 ration modulation at 4 or 5 watts, thats why the amp is peaking at 250w at 100w dk or similar with 80w dk. The 80w dk on the amp is when the RF power on the 955 is at its lowest setting.
No, i just did that momentarily. The RF power into the TS is about 4 or 5 watts . All i did to "blow the shit" out of the amp was when I keyed the mic, i turned the dial on the radio up and saw the needle on the swan got to 400w, i didnt modulate or run it with the 400w dk. Used the amp with dk...
