    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

No harm done. It came across as condescending and realize that was not your intentions. I am the type of person that analyzes everything and then moves forward in one direction after establishing exactly what it is I want to accomplish. Strong INFJ personality type (Myers Briggs MBTI). It's just...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

I tend to think outside the box 357. I did not even question that you pegged the UK on 3 watts as I always believe anything is possible with the right conditions. What you found does makes more sense based upon what "we think" is believable. However, laws are made to be broken and when it comes...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

Holy crappola that's incredible! I couldn't begin to answer that question as on AM I'm deadkeyed at 2 watts swinging to 5 on a long Audio and on ssb, no carrier swinging to about 18-19 with a slight bump on the #203 pot ssb alc in the radio. Normal speech is down around 12-13. I have no...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

DUH! I do understand that it is mostly the atmospheric conditions! But, I do know that you can take a piece of crap radio and put it on the right antenna and it will smoke a radio costing 100x more connected to a poorly matched piece of crap antenna. I never said a beam would be everything...

    Where to go from here?

Not sure if you saw a post in a thread I have going, Can't remember where it was but someone recommended the Sirio Tornado for the base. I think it's about $50.00 more than a 102". Actually less than that if you do a mount and a spring. I'm almost wishing I went with the Tornado to begin with...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

From what I understand unlocking the 980 is not like the other cb's. Little more to it and more than I would ever attempt. Got Italy today and Arkansas. I hit Texas and others west easily in the car heading south towards Bennington. So, I know it can be done from home so just gotta put up a...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

Grinder, I noticed Snake Radio changes the caps. One of the first thing he does. I have no idea how to do that and would never attempt it. It's a little too deep for my pea brain to handle. LOL 357, now a Bose would be truly high end! I think I'll bring an amp and the reference monitors up...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

You are too generous! I ran a recording studio here at the house for 15 years and still have all the stuff in the studio in the basement. I have more crap stuffed into this place and if I bring another thing in here my wife is going start throwing things out. ME being the first to go! BWAHAHA

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

Luv it! I was trying to figure out how to get it plummed into the surround system I use here on the computer but unfortunately it's triggered thru the computer cable. I was thinking about bringing an old 1970's Pioneer amp upstairs and hooking up a couple of extra bookshelf speakers. Talk about...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

Update I've had a small cpu fan sitting here since I got the 980. I noticed when talking for a long length of time the final gets pretty warm to the touch. Not hot. I remember seeing a vid somewhere with snake radio showing a thermometer on different sections of the board and how warm it gets...

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

You are referring to a bi-directional dipole as being either vertical or horizontal correct? Sorry again for my ignorance.

OK All U Beam Antenna Freaks.....

Thanks for this info! I was listening to a guy last week from the UK that was using a Moxon. He wasn't coming thru as hot as everyone else and I know that could be because of a variety of factors. A member mentioned the Sirio Tornado whip and was curious if anyone had experience with them. I'm...

    Newbie Here w/Some DX Questions....

That's too funny! I was thinking about drilling the bottom of the mast and welding in a handle using 1/4 inch steel rod to use as a handle to rotate the antenna with. :thumbup1:

    Video of my setup

The tornado looks like a beautiful antenna. I was really impressed with the craftsmanship of the Sirio Turbo and the Tornado looks typical Sirio. Unfortunately it's an omnidirectional antenna and that's not the next step in the evolution here. Really need a beam and will most likely be a Moxon...
