Which big black base should I get?

I think the 2995DXCF is okay. The issues I have come across with the power amplifier is the finals bias current is usually set too high from the getgo. If the bias current is kept down to what the 520's are designed for the power section does pretty good. I got some help on that issue from Handy...

It just boils down to whatever helps a person study the information. I would study on hamstudy.org, then do the testing on hamexam.org.

    ICOM PW1 Amplifier

I don't see anything in my previous post that I said anything about key up timing. I believe you just pulled that out of thin air.

    ICOM PW1 Amplifier

Yes sir, I am aware of what you are referring to. The menu setting in the radio will delay RF output for a time period, ( all be it very short time period), after the PTT SEND signal is energized.

    ICOM PW1 Amplifier

It is best to go into the 7300 menu and increase the RF "tail" issue to the maximum delay time. It will help to minimize the RF output from the radio into the amp, before the amp is fully keyed up and ready for RF. I have been operating two 7300's for 6 years with several different types /...

    ICOM PW1 Amplifier

I just repaired an ICOM PW1 amplifier for a fellow amatuer radio operator. He uses it with his ICOM 7300 and 7610 transceivers. Fortunately, it was not a power supply issue. Needless to say he was extremely pleased to get it back into operation. A first for me.

    Ameritron AL-1500 Strange Issue

The gap is like a spark plug gap, hence the specified gap. I am not sure , but I think it acts as some kind of safety or protection device. "There is a voltage limiting gap built into my amplifier. This gap is designed to be the point at which any arcing will occur (harmlessly) if the tank...

texas star 500 dx path of power in amp.

Power supply voltage to both ends of the output transformers, and to the collectors of both power transistors. If voltage is present, then your initial statement of no power to rear board is inaccurate. Hence, my question of "voltage power or RF power".
