I just repaired an ICOM PW1 amplifier for a fellow amatuer radio operator.
He uses it with his ICOM 7300 and 7610 transceivers.
Fortunately, it was not a power supply issue.
Needless to say he was extremely pleased to get it back into operation.
A first for me.

It is best to go into the 7300 menu and increase the RF "tail" issue to the maximum delay time.
It will help to minimize the RF output from the radio into the amp, before the amp is fully keyed up and ready for RF.
I have been operating two 7300's for 6 years with several different types / brands of amplifiers without experiencing that issue. Solid states and tube amplifiers.
But, yes, I am aware of that.

Yes sir, I am aware of what you are referring to.
The menu setting in the radio will delay RF output for a time period, ( all be it very short time period), after the PTT SEND signal is energized.

If you are aware of it, why do you keep talking about key up timing? Is there an unkey delay or something they added in a software update?

I don't see anything in my previous post that I said anything about key up timing.
I believe you just pulled that out of thin air.

The quotes below seem to be about key up. They just seem pretty specific is all. No big deal

It will help to minimize the RF output before the amp is fully engaged on key up.
