    Put up new sirio 2016

I have been thinking about handcrank setups i have seen in the past.........just a geared crank handle with a halfmoon shaped gear, but for the life of me can't remember what i saw it on. Also thought about a gate latch like you would see on a chain link fence gate, that way when you pushed up...

    Put up new sirio 2016

Hey MDM, looks like a tree wired to a post with 2016 attached to tree, just how tall is that bad boy??? Antenna looks like about 20' itself. Do I see a balun coil on the downfeed? What did you do for lightning protection, and how did you handle raising your "tree"?? Guessing you're about 40'...

    Ask first!

Rabbiporkchop, yeah think that is going to be the way...tried this before, but it was hard to grab the plastic and didn't want to use pliers. Think maybe if I put it in a radio plug and twisted, that might work. Kinda too stupid, but somebody put it together, it ain't PFM. Yeah, been to cb...

Big Kahuna- Yup, already tried that, and, yeah, loosens up some. Tied twisting, pulling, even tried getting my knife blade under the plastic and prying, but GENTLY. Hence the thread title........that, and the old saw "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I know there is a way to do it, just...

Tallman say, redbeast do. Bud, there just ain't nuthin' there. I know it's soundin' stupid, but it's true. Any screw would have to be MICROSCOPIC, there's a bunch of tiny pits from corrosion over the years, but that is it. Even scraped it down with my knife blade to make sure it wasn't worn in...

    Cobra 25 issues

Hey 338, does it change if you grab the antenna jack and move it up and down?? My 25 had a bad solder joint at the resistor directly under the antenna plug.

    Ask first!

Yup, I've taken those apart a lot, most will have a small tab and slot that you turn about 1/16th turn after the set screw is out. But this barrel doesn't have a set screw at all, just the two screws for strain relief. I've seen these before in the "old days",and know there's a way, but caan't...

    Ask first!

In the plastic housing???? Ok, I'll check....just to clarify, the only plastic is where the pins go through, the barrel with the screw on retainer is steel. The only screws on this plug are for the cord retainer/strain relief. But I'll look again. Thanks for the get back Brett!

    Ask first!

Ok, "stupid is as stupid does"; need to check the plug wiring on an old turner.....no screw in barrel, and for the life of me can't remember how to get steel barrel off plastic end, thought it unscrewed, but don't want to break it first, then ask. Any help?

    TELESCOPIC MAST.

Homer, what do you use to secure each section, do you drill thru and us bolts? How about the base, do you drive the lower into ground, or use a stand, and drive a rod in for lightning protection? Sounds like a prtty good way to get an a99 or imax up a bit. That said, what do you secure your coax...

    Too good to be true?

Yeah, thought about that, could have got it for less than that; but 1) was looking to see a " like new " 959, and 2) didn't really need the 29, and 3) can use all the karma I can get.

    Too good to be true?

Well, to quote our friend Rob...."Yup"!!! Went to check out the galaxy and it turned out to be a cobra 29 NW LTD classic. It was, however, in a galaxy box, the woman selling it had no clue. I felt bad, so checked the unit, like she said, looked like it had never/hardly been used. Worked just...
