Any of the three will work. If the Magnum is a mosfet final version it might be a tad hot for a Texas Star 250. Connex is ok but the Delta is a better radio. The 4800 I had drifted just like my Galaxy 88 and 99 on SSB......like a sail boat.
DTB you got that right. Just think how many people go and clean out Grandpas old garage full of junk and just set it all out for the trash. They are probably throwing away more money then what the house will sell for.
Psycho, I had a clipped General Lee several years ago. I ran it into a regulated AB Joker 2 pill. In less then a week while sitting on various parking lots I set 3 burglar alarms off and the police showed up each time. The radio was checked and looked like crap on a scope. Had the limiter...
It's all in the tech in my opinion. A good tech with all the proper equipment can take the alignment procedure directions and make it happen. He might also know of several parts that need to be changed after tuning several hundred radio's. Any one can buy a book or print the step by step...
Sure you can, if you really need it there is even a 2290 final mod for that radio. In either case though unless you can do the work yourself it's not very cost effective. You want watts per dollar not dollars per watt.
You need to leave right now and go buy a lotto powerball ticket because you must be a luckey person. The problems with the Cobra 200 are well known and documented all over the net. Alot of shops will not even open one up for you if you bring it in for a tune or repair.
Lords, for that kind...
Booty, if you check out his list of goodys he has a 2990 with 2879's in it. Why that needs to be done is beyond me but I'll just stop there. I bet 4 swinging 200 looks great on a scope.
Think about it like this, It sounds like Carl runs a cb shop to me. If he tunes say 100 RCI 2995's in a...
RCI makes a nice radio, but do you actually expect them to admit a problem in the power supply side? You bet now they will tell you ALL those problems have been solved, thats a no brainer. I hope they do have it fixed because that ended up being a serious problem for shops all across the country...
Oops, forgot the radio question. Since you had good luck there snake eyes, buy the radio from Copper like your other one, and then send it to a good tech for the conversion, alignment, and tune.
Actually if it's one of those blue face Palomar 225's they are exellent little amps. Class AB with filtering. Next would be a Cobra xl350 or the Galaxy version. Again these are clean little AB amplifiers with filtering. I have saved the best for last, start searching for a used Joker amplifier...
You will be spending alot of money for 10 more watts. The only time I would consider such a mod is if you blew out the driver and final and it had to be fixed anyway.
I'm glad the radio seems to be working and your happy. I also see they did not let me down by getting some part of the deal wrong right off the bat, hope they fix the mic for you.
Turn the mic gain up until people say thats too much, with a power mic you will just have to tinker with the...
