I would move the antenna closer to your shack as a first choice. The other choice, if you can afford it, is to run hardline, but it is pretty expensive.

Yes, I agree. I do have a102" stainless whip if the fiberglass one doesn't work out for me.

I contacted Uniden and they told me that the 980 has one green and a yellow, not two greens. Looks like two greens to me!

If you are looking for a base station the TRC-457, TRC-458 and TRC 490 I believe were all made by Uniden. I owned a TRC-490 for years and it was a great radio! I wish that I had never sold it! :D

I guess they must have dropped the amber color! I bought the radio because all my scanners and shortwave receivers have amber back light! :sad:
