    Another unannounced one from ranger

Defects I have found so far: Stock SRA-198 microphone attenuates modulation significantly out-of-the-box SSB power far below 12w 3mm external speaker connector does not return to open after 3mm speaker connection is removed. No audio until connector is then re-inserted part way, then removed.

New SSB export radio coming soon - RCI X9

walcott radio rec'd the returned defective radio about 10 days ago. I checked with them last Monday and they said they had it on the bench. Since then they have gone deaf on me. No responses or email updates.

Great idea! That's the most useless switch on the radio.

Mine just came in. I can confirm the board is like the 979. SSB was a few watts too low (~8-9w) and about 1/8th of vr17 turn fixed it(~12w). AM was about 3.5 dead key and I left that where it was. Even though made in Vietnam, it seems to be ok. RB will be done next.

    Kl 203 issues

88 radio has a newegg storefront. Just search in the newegg site for rm italy. I think newegg is safer since the 88 radio site does not use secure sockets. These are great amps and so far for me and my mistakes, have been surprisingly rugged.

Galaxy DX-99v2 with amp or RCI -2970n2??

you can try slapping the top of the box and it might start up again for a bit. If it does this, it may be a way to confirm that. (ask me how I know) And that little connector is VERY hard to solder! I tried fixing it myself and failed, but I told Galaxy about it and sent it back to them and...

Galaxy DX-99v2 with amp or RCI -2970n2??

no tx due to faulty solder joint on a two wire connector behind the controls is a very common galaxy issue.

I'll keep that in mind. The idea is to see what it will do with a 2 stage amp on each stage.

WOW! so glad I did the resistor ALC mod mod(sic). on low power, which I set at 1w, the thing swings to 30. Not much test and verification other than a "loud and clear" radio check done yet.

Stryker SR-94HPC Noise Blanker and AMC

maybe they have no legs to stand on since this is an anytone radio re-branded.

yes, makes sense. I hear an electric motor sound in my Subaru and the dodge diesel has all kinds of crazy noises plaguing my radios. Nothing has helped in the least so far except the ignition key. I DID notice the NB on this radio actually quieted the receive some on the bench.

I see. Attention to detail does not go well with ADD.

New SSB export radio coming soon - RCI X9

sent a message to Walcott where I ordered this about the problems. They immediately sent me a prepaid UPS label to send it back. Pretty good customer service. They said it may have to go back to RCI for warranty repair. Of course, I was prepared for this since it's Consumer Electronics I'm...
