    TRC-57 Channel Expansion?

oh and unless its been used regularly over the last 30 years, or stored in a cave then I highly doubt the caps are still "wet". I have seen and own exceptions to this rule but usually the caps have dried out and need replaced

    TRC-57 Channel Expansion?

does it use 12 crystals? if so swap out the multiplier crystal http://kg4zpn.netai.net/cb/cmixing/AM%2014950-23290-11275-11730.pdf crystal "a" in one of the banks, its 23.xxx mhz. most SSB is on the upper channels so you wont miss much sacrificing a bank (4 channels each), or two of lowers...

UPD2824, swap the 10.240 reference crystal, will it work?

So I got this old TRC-465 out of storage and feel the need to mess up something. I know they made channel kits for these, like exp back in the day, and I am thinking these just switch the 10.240 crystal with something else for upper and lower channels. Is that it or were these kits like an...

    i'me back

I got tired of the Obama. I am waiting for President's next radio, President Trump. If they come out with a President Hillary it will be a brown FRS radio with only one channel that advertises 500 channels and 1000 mile range

    i'me back

I been off the radio and internet for awhile. My fat, lazy pig of a wife finally left me for not being able to afford enough ho-hos so what does that mean. It means the radios are going in my living room, cause my girlfriend thinks my ham is sexy.

Cell Tower Antenna's: Can they be modified for other purposes?

W5zl you opened up one of those antennas and looked inside? About a thousand elements phased together. Some are just traces on a PCB while others might be dipoles soldered the older ones might have some meat . 222. What would you get out of it. You be much better chopoi g up some lmr...

Cell Tower Antenna's: Can they be modified for other purposes?

TMAs are just RX amplifiers, probably made of aluminum with cavity filters milled into it. The actual amplifier boards are tiny, the rest is all like a diplexer, splits off the RX band from the TX, lets the TX pass to the antenna and then amps up the RX sends it back. I would say no, TMA's...

How can hams meet single YL's on the air?

first you need to have a good HF rig capable of mars/cap operation. Do the mod for extended coverage. This is frowned upon in most amateur radio circles, but you wanna get a date right? Tune to 27.1850 mhz, mode AM, and ask for a date.

sheriff's department, fire, ems, aircraft and a few local PD from some of the smaller neighboring towns, taxis, tow truck dispatch, hams, businesses on the dot channels and walmart on murs. occasionally you will hear hunters on VHF marine. Local PD, city fire, highway patrol, dmv, forest...

Has anyone ever played around with FRS radios?

I do it all the time unintentionally from the tops of radio towers. It amazes people how far a cheap 300mw radio will go with a straight line of sight. Once I was far away from home on thanksgiving, talked to a lady who invited me to eat with her for thanksgiving, I was going to go until I...

Different Look At 102" Whip Discussion

and I never said 102" whip was bad, in an ideal setup it in theory will outpreform anyy K40, Wilson or big coil thing, at least for power radiated into the sky, although not by much over a Wilson 5/8 loaded. I have heard some debate over whether or not there is such a thing as a 5/8WL base...

Different Look At 102" Whip Discussion

I always used 468 or 234 for 1/4wl but its not really an accurate formula. I remember reading an article somewhere that went into the details and I coulnt make sense of it, but the point was divide by 234 or something close and add some inches then check and cut it with a meter.

Different Look At 102" Whip Discussion

I dont think a 1/4 whip is often the best option for a CB antenna. Mounting it below metal, like on a bumper screws up radiation and swr. When driving 70 mpg and the top of it is leaning horizontal or bent like a u, i think thats a problem as well. In theory a "102" whip would be better...

VLC Media Player? Anyone useing it?

I used cdex to rip but i have not done CD in years so the creators of cdex may have sold out to evil (bundled malware) best to read reviews and not from some shill either. That is true for any software
