I think you only need one output for TX fm and the other signal is just rx. But not 100% sure I could not help myself so I got the 5351b off ebay. Looking more and freq mods may be as simple as programming an eeprom.

Well I think the si5351b might be a contender. I'm having trouble understanding the offset thing. Does that mean that the original signal is mixed with a 440khz signal to create "bands"? Will it provide access to the "A" channels and a freq counter? I know that the crystal mod doesn't provide...

Right, we are talking about the new FM 29. I'm really interested in learning more about the offset mixing that NZ8N has described. I'm not sure why there are pictures of crystals. Isn't that for the older 29?

Gosh, it almost seems easier do the poor man's freq mod on an older 29 and drop FM in it.

I'm excited to see what NZ8N comes up with for frequency mods for this new style Cobra 29.

I saw this on YouTube I think it was. And their was a second part where the 5mhz signal came from a board using like 5 5mhz arduino crystals and provides a slide thing to get the a channels. Kinda neato.

My tech dude put FM in my 29 and I love it.

FWIW. I am also interested in audio upgrades for the Cobra 29 and Cobra 1000. This is the graphic I was referring too. Is something like this worth investigating?
