For me the extra channels is no big deal....I've had my share of export radios over the years which have all the funny channels, yet seldom ever got on any of those channels with the exception of maybe 26.915...main reason for buying the exports was usually more for the power than the extra...
Only thing with that article is it's a little flawed the way they are lumping all the Big Coil antennas together with the the base loaded and fiberglass antennas, making it sound like the Big Coil antennas are not all that efficient...If you look, all the antennas they tested were 5'...
This radio is being sold by a personal friend of mine so I can safely vouch that it is indeed a NIB-NOS Cobra 2000 GTL...Only taken out of the box to make sure everything still works like it did the day it left the factory, and to take pictures...It has NEVER been used, not even once...The box...

The coax does not have a screw-on connector, you strip the coax back and attach the ground braid and center conductor wires to the tuning rod...
So basically what your saying is they are a bitch to work on because of the size, and if you have fat fingers they are a bit hard to operate....
Other than that....what do you think of the radio itself as for as how it works and sounds?
I wouldn't judge the Bill FCC by it's size...I have the McKinley which is also a small radio, but paired with a 1x2 amp and I can talk and receive from one end of Dallas County to the other with no problems...DX is also not a problem with the radio as I have made quite a few DX contacts with it...

I mean if it has something to do with being "legal", the radio your looking at is just as illegal as running a Cobra 29 with a Texas Star 250 amp on 11 meter...
Radios with built-n amp's are more prone to failure due to heat, than one with a external amp....
