i would get the gaim master 5/8 then just run a type accepted cb 980 ,959,29,ectfor a while see what happens. i dont think the gainmaster will handle the power of a sb220 on am.. ssb maybe but i wouldnt try
goto copper.com they have a electic condenser mic called the superstar 452 its a handheld power mic for around 20bucks.. id try that or a xtreame 2018. ive heard road devils on them they sounded ok but i thought stock mic sounded better .jmo
depending on what your looking fpr you could buy a dual final radio like a galaxy 99v2 .or just buy a galaxy 959 and small amp for it. if ya dont want ssb you can save some cash and buy a galaxy 929 or cobra 29 and buy a small amp for that. BUT the best thing you can do is buy a good mobile...
just curious as to where ya mounted it? my current antenna is a sirio 5000 fighter series .on my mfj 259b x= 0 is at 26xxx.guess i need to trim whip.can i trim it from the top its much thinner...lol. wilsons quaility has suffered some BUT they still tx/rx just as good and im sure they still...
imo i always felt the same way. ive never expermented with this though. only reason im looking into enclosed coil is up here in n.w pa we get alot of freezing rain /snow.
for price and performance the maco v5/8 would be the only antenna id try to replace the starduster with. is your starduster a sirio or antenna specialist??
just wanting to add in the sirio performer 5000 into the mix. . this has been a great antenna for me. not as long as a 102 .and doesnt seem to grab alot of attention like my monkeymade did..jmho
new outta box maco is a time tested designed. new SPT500 needs upgrades. ive also seen 1 local here compare these 2 the maco won ..but by much really but the difference was enough from going to just barely hearing ya to hearing ya good
yup that was my findings too they worked well had low swr,they werent that noticable on ya vehicle.only drawback ive found is there not as broadbanded.but if ya look at the small amount of money spent on these it has me rethinking going back to them
just wanting to throw my 2 cents worth in. locally i have used fm and works great suelch out all other noise.one thing i will say is if ya talking to a mobile far off and signal is dropping ya open up squelch and it gets harsh to listen too.so i find as long as i can have a quso with the squelch...
