Magnum S-45HP
Hi Ed, While the S-45 and the 257 outwardly do seem to share a lot in the LCD screen and way you operate them they are quite different once you pull off the lids. The S-45 is still using discrete components and the 257 is SMD. Neither of them like RF or being placed too close to...
ahaa!
See what we are up against Bruce!
Did the differential include the postage fees.?
Invariably the cheap prices from the US internet shops get gobbled up by the excessive courier charges!
Bargain! Hassle...ask for a discount. YeticomNZ should be able to match any US prices once the...
magnum S-9
I think you have hit the nail on the head Ed, 'most' of what we are seeing on the display is counter drift, especially in a mobile situation.
One should not get two focused on the counter when operating SSB with this board as you will always clarify the incoming station no matter...
OPtima
YeticomNZ Optima is priced at US$375 shipped.
That includes the USA.
We don't have the volume to compete with Magnum on pricing and it is not our desire to compete on price but to try to offer a good SSB radio at a price that the consumer will be prepared to pay and still allows us to...
Speech processors etc
So Rob, You did not seem to finish this thread. Just how did it work?
Am I correct in surmising it was a less than expected experience with the TGM?
I do know the Sp-1A worked well. not sure if the CP1 and TGM can do as well as there are just not a lot of parts in those...
Have they closed down?
Looking for the SP-1 speech processor if anyone has the design.
Thinking of getting some boards made and putting a few together if we can get the circuit. Bob built a few for me a few years ago and they do work well.
But I can't seem to find Bob's Cb any more.
thanks
Dave
factory tune
because the factory tune is only done on AM !
They don't include SSB so most radios need the SSB tuned because the factory doesn't do it. The don't have a procedure for SSB
blue screen 257
The early blue screen 257's had bipolar finals.
You better check first or just send it away to get fixed. If you don't have time to pop the lids you don't have time to fix it either.
magnum 257HP
The magnum is smaller and possibly easier to use in the car and I think sounds better on SSB. Doesn't cover 12m but then there ain't a lot on 12m anyway!
Don't forget the fan on the heatsink fins.
Latest models with the rx75 final. They don't need too much in the way of a tune up other than tweak the alc up to 60-70w from the 40w PEP they come standard with out of the factory. Any further fine tuning results in peaking in certain areas at the expense of rest of the bands. I would leave...
How many radios do you need?
The answer to that one tucker is the same as the answer to this riddle.
"How many people can you cram into an Indian Bus?"
The answer? scroll down

Take care,
