magnum omegaforce s45HP problem.

With the price of the Australian dollar being strong against the USD at the moment it is a great time to purchase stuff from the states.

I am still interested in the Omegaforce S 45HP.

Can someone advise me please as to a reputable store that sells the S 45 HP on the west coast of the USA. I need a store that will align and tune. The mailing costs should be cheaper if purchased from that part of the states.

Well my 2 cents Chris Holland is Aces with me, fixed an Omega Force in less time than quoted, did more than he was supposed to for the quoted price and I had the radio back working 110% a week earlier than I expected, had an issue with another Omega Force that is under warranty, when sent I enclosed a copy of the original warranty paperwork and the sales reciept, he said he would take care of everything, not to worry he and Sam Lewis will get together and fix it for me no questions asked. It doesn't get any better than that, and we both know Magnum radios kick butt

Thanks for your 2cents mate, I will take dimes, quarters, nickles . as I am on this side of that large pond. I will give him a ring on Skype tomorrow as although it is 1.30pm Monday it is still Sunday evening there.

Sparky's got a good rap also in other posts but I believe they don't do international sales. Bugger.

cheers mates.

..Spoke to someone at Sparky's last night and the 45HP are on back order, and he doesn't do international post for some reason which I didn't explore.

Oh well.

A lot of dealers won't do international. I had to have my RCI 69FFC2 shipped to my friend's warehouse in Williston VT. Luckily, I'm going to visit him for a party later this month, where I'll pick up my radio from him. There really is no major hassle for any U.S. dealer to send stuff internationally. All the dealer needs to do is fill out a C22 postal customs form which is really only a sticker requiring to list "contents" "weight" and name of consignee. It's a sticker about 5" by 5" and gets slapped on the side of the box. Of course, the dealer does have the hassle of bringing it to a post office to get it priced for postage. Maybe that's too much hassle for these guys? Oh well... a sale lost... :headbang

You need a U.S. address.
OTOH, you can always order from Copper or H&Y. They both ship internationally.

Thanks, Sparky's seems to have a very good reputation and will check the radio before shipping. Having a good reliable radio with those bells and whistles when I am so far away is important. I do have friends in various states in the USA and may ask if one would take delivery for me and on ship. He has about 100 on back order so it could take some time. Will just have to wait until he gets another shipment.

Where are you Bob,
YeticomNZ have them ex stock NZ

rgds,
Dave

OZ mate. I think we have exchanged a few emails over the Magnum and the Optima /Huracan. Are the S45's you have the latest models with the better finals. Can you PM with a landed price to OZ Post Code 3199?

Also are they checked for tune and alignment before shipping.

cheers

Bruce

Latest models with the rx75 final. They don't need too much in the way of a tune up other than tweak the alc up to 60-70w from the 40w PEP they come standard with out of the factory. Any further fine tuning results in peaking in certain areas at the expense of rest of the bands. I would leave them as they are in that respect. The receiver is sensitive enough in my opinion. Any more the rx gets noisy and overloaded.
Send me another email as Mike has them in NZ and I have them up here.
If you increase the output you have to add a fan to the heatsink. In fact even if you don't I think a fan should be standard. The S-45HP is louder than the Optima but the S-45HP doesn't have the extra filter or 12m or the full coverage (no bands), continuous step function and 5khz default steps or the 8 pin socket or memory scanning.
S-45HP has a roger beep, 40ch bands, channel No. read out, Echo, the AM boost thing, and a swr meter which the Optima doesn't.
The S-45HP kills the Optima on AM. S-45HP is a better CB radio in that respect.
If you live around ch35 go for the S-45HP but if you spend more time around triple five you will appreciate the Optima.
The S-45HP costs a little less but is more expensive to ship due to the weight, so it is a bit of a wash re price. Magnum would be a bit cheaper...
Optima and a DX500 is an awesome package!
cheers,
Dave

Having both the S45HP and the OPTIMA, I concur 100% with Dave's comments.
The new S45HP's absolutely do not require any tuning.

The S45HP is excellent on SSB, but really shines on AM. One of the reason's I bought the S45HP was specifically due to it's CB features and bells and whistles. I was attracted to the OPTIMA specifically because it's a superb all round 10M performer, due to the features Dave described.
