10m market
Tough indeed when we have Anytone flooding the market with the variants of the AT-5555 at give away prices! But you don't have to send our radios to kucher Hans in Germany to make them work, or wait till you get to version 5 to get the bugs worked out! Got to hand it to them...
OPtima
Buy in cartons of ten for a decent discount in price and another saving in freight costs.
These radios are more expensive to build than the normal 10m export radio..about 50% more. Hence the price.

100hz tuning
At the moment the problem is the extra digit.
What if were were to include the step but not the digit?
Those that didn't know and didn't want it wouldn't use it. Those that needed it would have to count the clicks!
After 10 clicks the 1khz digit would jump up or down...problem...

I would put the vol on the...
RMS pactor
Yes thats what they do...they scan and respond to incoming calls so the onus on use is on the station calling in which initiates the call.
My pactor station is located 125km away from the house and other than by watching whats going through remote desk top I seldom have to do...
Optima Mic
I use the SM-20 with low cut in..
Another feature Booty did not mention is the relatively hidden func and button 4 which scans the memories only......
I use that a lot...

Huracan
We are trying to pull the Huracan down to 24.5 and increase the steps to 1khz 5khz and 100khz from the display brightness control but we are having problems with stability so we stopped and concentrated on the Optima but we will go back to the Huracan. 24.5mhz is OK but we may have to...
HLA300V
It is a fine amp but can give problems. Just have to watch 2 things real close.
Overdriving it and SWR.
Seems to work best at 5w input and very low swr as it is susceptible to SWR.
There has been a couple of upgrades since it first came out.

galaxies
Hi Ed,
I am not sure but I think you will find galaxies and connex come from a ranger plant somewhere...I don't think from goodwill. 257 and S-45 are philipines
