    11 meter is very quiet?

Yep, close but no cigar. Thanks for trying though. I heard other stations making contact with you so I backed off, no sense adding to the QRM. Agreed on some horrible sounding stations out there. You always sound good up here. Last two stations I've made contact with tried to give me grief...

    MXT275 call button delete

I hate call buttons, especially when they're right under a menu button. A razor blade took care of the little nub that actuates the switch. Stuffed a thin piece of foam behind the PTT button as it's way too easy to accidentally key. Pulled the weight out also. Suits my preferences much better now.

    11 meter is very quiet?

Been calling out every day starting at 40L, not much luck. Conditions here west of St. Louis haven't been very good for me anyway. Man I can't wait to get an antenna or three up in the air where it/they belong. Too windy to throw a wire up. Also have some station booming in on what I believe is...

    FREQUENCY AND TIME FOR CONTACTS

Yep, that was me and I commend you on a very noble effort on trying to pull my signal out man. I run a box stock barefoot McKinley in my Cherokee with a drilled hole roof mount antenna on a Breedlove mount. I run a custom base loaded Larsen while driving and I have an MFJ 12 meter telescopic (I...

    FREQUENCY AND TIME FOR CONTACTS

An inverted v I made out of an old extension cord and wood trim for a spreader. Two and a half sections of 2" pvc conduit for a mast, about as sturdy as a spaghetti noodle.

    Reclaim LSB 16

Yeah that was a tough one. I was using the telescopic on top of the Jeep. Thanks for getting back to me!

    11 meter is very quiet?

It was great talking to you J.J.. That was the only contact I made that day and my first dx in over a week. Made my day friend. Thanks again for the QSO!

    Need 9.785mhz crystal

I acquired a TRS Challenger 850 and have determined that the 9.785 crystal in the LSB circuit (X1) is bad. I know very little about these circuits. I'm assuming this is an SSB filter? Anyway, when I tap on it, I get audio on LSB. USB and AM are fine. Solder joints look good. Anyone have one of...

How about a "DX-DAY" for forum members

I check 40USB every day on my lunch break around noon central just in case any of y'all are out there. Few people hear this little radio but I never get tired of trying.

    11 meter is very quiet?

Decided to put my homemade Moxon up on the painter's pole today but before I did I turned the McKinley on in the Jeep and within seconds heard 030 Ireland calling on 38LSB here in St Louis. Didn't hear anyone comeback so I rolled the dice and boom, good but brief contact, got keyed over pretty...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Made good contacts in North Carolina and New York last night, first trip to those states. Also got excellent short skip QSO to Champaign Illinois this morning from Lonedell, Missouri at our new property! Clear as a landline connection and both of us barefoot CB. Pretty cool.

    Reclaim LSB 16

I was working on the Jeep and monitoring 38LSB yesterday afternoon when the band opened up for about 2 minutes. I heard an operator in Pennsylvania (which I never hear in east central Missouri) all happy making contacts and poof, it dropped right back out. At least the locals kept the police...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Nothing but static on my mobile today just west of St Louis. NOAA forecast looks like Tuesday afternoon might take a turn for the better. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/wam-ipe

SWR went haywire on my Sirio 5000

I didn't think to take any pics of the corrosion but it was a mess. SWR didn't get over 2.2:1 but I knew something was up because it was never above 1.4:1 on either end before. It has been through some torrential downpours for sure. Yep a dab of dielectric grease and a little silicone will go a...

SWR went haywire on my Sirio 5000

SWR started acting sketchy the last few days. I disassembled the antenna and found the area inside the item circled to be full of corrosion. Only that area. Not sure if moisture got it from the top where the whip enters and ran down or if it got in lower and condensed up in that area. It was a...

    Reclaim LSB 16

We were both barely above the noise floor so we kept the contact fairly short and I didn't get a chance to ask him but we completed the QSO which was cool.
