11 meter is very quiet?

Hate to be a party pooper, but reacting to the idiots is called "Feeding The Trolls". You gave him Exactly what he wanted, which is attention. If nobody ever reacted to the idiots they would ALL go away really quickly. Better to say nothing at all.

Been calling out every day starting at 40L, not much luck. Conditions here west of St. Louis haven't been very good for me anyway. Man I can't wait to get an antenna or three up in the air where it/they belong. Too windy to throw a wire up. Also have some station booming in on what I believe is 27.400 running power, hogging bandwidth, and wrecking 27.405 at my location. Dude needs to slide somewhere else or back off the throttle a little. Oh well, I'm not easily discouraged. It'll happen when mother nature sees fit.

Peace

Other than listening to the 19 am skip while driving, I've not had the time to play radio on the base. Maybe.... just maybe this weekend!

But I'm hearing the 19 skip from sun up until late evening during my commute home. I have a feeling I'm missing out on ssb world.

I'm with you. My beam/amp down till I recheck and redo pl259 and connections on it - dropping it (again) this weekend hopefully for the last time. I can play on the max2000 but beams are king for making it through lol - so haven't been on either.

I was on the air off and on from 11AM until 8:30PM. Channels 37L,39L & 40L mostly. Good conditions all day. Lots of contacts, but no WDX members except WDX561 in St Louis. But he was barely making it over the noise, and we really couldn't hook up.
I'm amazed by the number of high-power stations out there. I have guys tell me routinely that they're running 1KW+, and based on my meter readings, I believe it. Funny thing is though, stations running 100 watt exports (5555s, 6666s, Strykers, etc.,) are just as loud, UNTIL a big boy keys up and blows them away.
Then there are the stations (mostly in Florida) that are so overdriven and distorted as to be almost unreadable. 8711 out of Florida is the worst of the bunch. His signal is so awful that it hurts me to listen to it. Today he kept keying up and saying," Who's gonna tell me to turn down my mike gain today ?"

We're having a new driveway gate installed on our farm, and I'm building an automatic opener for it. So I'll be in my shop/shack all day tomorrow. I'll be copyig the mail so give me a call . 40LSB. 73.

I know what you mean. Earlier this week had two MASSIVE bases (+20) seemingly competing to see who could be the most impossible to understand while simultaneously being the most overpowered station in the nation. I get being the biggest and baddest, but what good is it when no one can understand a word of what you're transmitting? Strange thing is, they both seemed to think they sounded fantastic.

Yep, close but no cigar. Thanks for trying though. I heard other stations making contact with you so I backed off, no sense adding to the QRM. Agreed on some horrible sounding stations out there. You always sound good up here. Last two stations I've made contact with tried to give me grief. First one because I can't slide to the zeros "welp, guess we're not gonna make it happen then", second station after a decent QSO on 36L and telling him I'm barefoot "now I know where the mud ducks are" and abruptly ended our contact lol. Like that's going to deter me. Pfft...

Well I finally had a little while for some ssb action, WOW conditions were absolutely fantastic this evening. Like dropping meat into a piranha trank, cq and a dozen answered. One after another and didn't log a single one because the fun was full swing.

Hope to catch some of you gents on there this weekend.

Ya man it’s been bananas!!! I don’t log much either. Usually driving and if I am parked I rather just enjoy the moment.

Ever since I got back on the air in July, I have logged most of my contacts. So far my log book has 276 entries, and I have a backlog of contacts to enter. I feel stupid when I contact someone and they say, "Remember, we talked last month." and I don't remember. My son, (the computer genius), said that I should enter all my logbook data into a spreadsheet, and use it to analyze the data to see if I had talked a a station previously. Sounded pretty cool, so I bought a tablet and entered my log book data into it. I didn't know squat about using spreadsheets so my son signed me up with CHATGP, an online Artificial Intelligence program. The program and I "talk" to each other verbally, and it has guided me thru getting my spreadsheet working. Now, when I make a contact, I can type in his number and state, and, (If we've contacted before) the sheet will kick back the number and dates of previous contacts immediately, along with his location and personal if he gave it to me. TOTALLY COOL !!! CHATGP is amazing.
