See my Turner +3 rebuild post. The highs are there after rebuild. However, I use audio quality film caps, not the nasty electrolytic and tantalum caps in the audio chain. Those caps kills the high-end. Largest pull for me on the +3 is the audio compressor that works so well.

I use one daily. I like the radio. Sensitive receiver, about as good as my late model ham radio set. If you get it, clip resistor out at Dyna Mod switch behind front cover. Changes mod swing from 6 watts max to 10 watts max or enough to tickle an amp nicely.

I believe the mic is good for AM, not so much for SSB. Turner made SSB mics.

BTW- Any model Wima 2.2uf model MKC or MPK will work, but cannot be more than 5/16" thick due to space limitations.

That is exactly what I own. It is a great amp and can play to 200 watts peak output. Not bad for two small & inexpensive tubes.

When CB band is open with skip, about nothing heard on the 10 meter Ham band. Are there more CBers than hams now? I notice less than 1/2 the activity on the ham bands in the last 10 years.

It is a sweet radio IMO. I could use a ham transceiver outside of normal 40 channels, so I would not care if extras were installed. (I never used extra channels anyways).

I would like to see FCC approve 100 watts as maximum power out. Many export radios produce high power.

Well 11 meters was a ham band at one time Yaesu knew that & figured they would not be blacklisted by hams. Although some hams were pissed, Yaesu won that round.

BTW- My low class Hy-Gain model 480 with two tiny 6JU6 tubes dead keys 60 watts and swings to 180 watts with same radio having the 16 watt swing.

I bought this amp and rebuilt it. New power supply capacitors & a relay to switch the 600 volt secondary. Palomar had the tubes drawing B+ continuously- not good. I had four new 6LF6, driver 6LF6 tubes were like new. Anyways on low drive I could get only 300 watts out with a swing to 350 watts...
