Not that I can tell Booty. The main mast is due west of the antenna, and I talked to California (I am in Tampa Bay) well a few times since the antenna went up, so it does not seem to be attenuating the westward signal too much.
A device to flip it vertical to flatside , and then round and...
I use the same 55 amp Iota on my HX on the base. Love it. The Iota gives the HX all it wants and doesn't even work hard.
What do you mean by: "I have the voice guide in the base". ??
Mole - the standoff and mast clamp came with the antenna. $58 plus shipping on Ebay from H&Y Electronics. A good value. Thing works fantastic locally. Antenna is surprizingly broadbanded. SWR is very good on 10 meters.
Here is another review: http://www.hevener.com/sirio.html
Well the Sirio is sold as a CB antenna and works great there but it is also broadbanded enough to use on 10 meters without a tuner. I put the new Sirio SD-27 on the mast with the existing ladder line fed doublet that I use on the HF bands. The ladder line for the doublet in the picture is 600...

Everything but the Sirio is scraps from the garage and stuff...

If you have ever twisted a pl259 over the braid on LMR400 you would be convinced that sucker is there for life. It is an extremely tight fit. Anyway, just one of those things......
Dude - I am Lazybones, "Certified Specialist in the Art of Leisure." Building stuff would ruin the image I have relaxed so hard to earn. Buying it was the Lazybones thing to do. Rogee? :)
Nah, the point is: Soldering a pl259 is not an absolute must.
I have seen so many bad connectors because the connector was overheated during soldering and in turn caused the melted dielectric to ooze about and push the center conductor to one side while cooling - causing a partial short that...

PL259 Connectors - Taming The PL259 Connector by VE3VDC
summary - Putting PL 259 on coax:
1. Strip off 3/4" of outer insulation.
2. Fold the braid back over the outer coax insulation.
3. Cut away the inner insulation close to the edge of the braid, exposing the center...
