In my opinion, if the seller told you it was brand new, and it had a refurb sticker, you'd have a bitch!
Buying a used radio from ANYONE over the WWW is always a risk!
The only non conductive hub is the one on the driven element. The directors are set up like the reflector.
I have the measurements for a three element but not a four!
This is a PDL4, 14 "TRUE" db gain. A guy here in Oklahoma has spent the last many years perfecting it! He also builds a PDL3 as well. Horizontal and vertical work very well. They are real tight and have great rejection! :thumbup1:
By the way if someone does talk you into selling anything PDL...
When we built the pad for our sand Plant we installed a grounding grid in it! For this we use a large hammer drill with a ground rod bit. We sank twenty eight foot rods in just a couple hours. If we used a sledge or post drive we would still be installing them! Lol I tried removing my ground...
Before going and spending that hard earned money on something you may use once, I'll re-post the method I used to sink my ground rod through clay soil by hand in three minutes!
Dig a gallon sized hole where you want your rod, fill that hole with water, start working the rod up and down in this...
Now just from a layman that knows enough about electricity too stay away from it! I have bonded all my junk too help with rf feedback, static, and all the other varmints that plaque our hobby. When it storms all my stuff gets disconnected, even the ground from shack to ground rod. If you get a...
I have the base of the P500, base of the push up pole, and all the equipment in the shack grounded to a rod I sank by hand, (using the water in the hole trick, which is another story), I did notice that bonding reduced the rf in the computer speakers! When we have storms in the area I disconnect...
Dig a small hole with the shovel or post hole digger about six or eight inches deep! Fill the hole with water, then work your ground rod up and down in the middle of the hole. You can do this at an angle if head room is an issue! Keep the hole full of water and before you know it, you will have...
I think I would take my hobby into consideration like the considerations made about how many rooms, bathrooms, a garage, school district, and all other decisions made when looking for a new home! If you are a serious ratchet jaw, and he is as well, it will get ugly if he's as close as you say...
Have you had good luck with the wireless antenna? I've been thinking about trying one here at my shack!
Here's a pic of my shack as well!
What did you think of it?
Take the radio and box to that GOOD tech that keeps getting mentioned and have them looked at.
Put em in your truck and yell at Driftwood when you come through OKC.
Good luck.
Robb had the right idea! Take that radio to a GOOD radio man, have him go through it. Stick a little heater behind it and grin.
That's one of the best CBs ever!
I've wanted to use these for ever but couldn't justify
the crazy cost of them.
I went to auto zone the other day to see how much they
were getting and was floored by the price!
As I was returning home the light suddenly came on.
Hey what about forklifts? I asked myself- electric forklifts...
