Thanks. I have a better one to tell you...
At another store that was even closer to me, I found out they were using 154.570....I was out in the parking lot, sitting in my vehicle...decided to mess with them so I got on and said the following...
Me: I need someone to come help me in the...
I recently acquired a TS 500 and I already have a TNT HD 600....seems the TNT puts out more power than the TS 500 even though they have the same amount (4) and type (2SC-2879) of transistors? What's up w/that?
This cat is also known on the Buick Grand National boards to buy peoples GN parts thru Paypal, then file a claim saying said part was misadvertised, get his refund, then he may or may not send you back a box of broken parts/rocks/turds/etc....then he'll list your item he *stole* from you on...
Well that makes me feel better about dropping 600 bones for a TNT 1500 I saw for sale. It's a straight 8 pill amp. Would be a nice replacement for my TNT 600 which is a straight 4 pill amp. I outgrew it.
Heh heh heh....thought I'd share even if this is an old post.
I found out the Wal Fart 20 miles away uses 154.600 as their communications channel.
I was passing by with the radio on scan (I have the MURS frequencies programmed) and heard them as I was passing Wal Fart. Passed by later in...
You have to mod it to work on 11 meters, by unsoldering a wire and resoldering it on the board. (CB tricks has this info) but yeah it can/will work on 11 meters.
Mine does. I'm thinking of selling.
For that kind of coin I'd rather have a real General Lee radio. Not a Cobra with a sticker stuck on it.
I sold one of those 78X's on eBay about 2 years ago for $65.
CB for the most part is line of sight. There are exceptions to the rule such as skywave propagation....but yes, the more your antenna can see due to elevation, the better your chances are of getting heard further.
Wonder if you could do that with a 3 position switch box using the two outer coax hook ups and not the middle...? Perhaps that would help to keep you from transmitting from one radio into the other one?
What radios are you referring to...?
There's 2 ham rigs I can think of that RX on 11 meters and TX if modded.....Icom 706MKIIG and the Yaesu FT857....neither have I ever saw going for $300 used...$500 used at best.....and that's NOT on eBay either....
Ok make that 3...the FT-101 comes to mind...
My 2 cents here....
If the old time coders want to be mad at someone, let it be the FCC, as it was their decision to drop the code requirements. Just as much as hams should have so much contempt towards CBers for using a band that was taken from the hams in 1958....again be mad at the FCC...
I used to have the TRBX-2 and it DID NOT have double talker.
But it did have some wicked hellacious echo. ;)
My Xtreme 2018 has double talker. More of an annoyance than anything. Give me a touch of echo any day.
I did have one a few months back but it sold rather quickly. They don't make that radio anymore.
If you've noticed the ones on eBay usually fetch upwards of $100
My recommendation....hit up the local hamfest. I've seen the same radios sell there for anywhere from $40-$50.
Of course if...
