I have this week off work and while cleaning the garage yesterday I found a bag of aluminum tent poles I picked up at a yard sale a few years ago. I got the bug to build a ground mounted vertical for 20m. But, I was only going to do it if I had all the stuff I needed without buying anything...
I'm participating in the 13 colonies special event today and kept hearing the tail end of my exactly when I would un-key. It happened several times on 20 and 40m. I though someone was messing with me until I heard almost my full call and realized it was my voice! LOL
So I'd heard of...
MFJ makes low power single band ssb radios 75 through 2 meters. You can Google that. Heathkit did back i in the day but those were tube rigs.
I used to run the MFJ 20m ssb radio mobile long time ago and they work surprisingly well.
Hams sticks are one of the few cheap and decent antennas out there. Start looking at screwdriver antennas and you can get into some big money real fast.
I use a 20 m stick when I take road trips and it works fine on 20. You can also look at the Hustler masts and resonators. A little more...
Upper left hand corner of the fire wall there's a donut sized rubber seal with a wiring harness in the center. Lots of room on the outer edge to snake a wire through or around. I reinforced the section touching the donut and firewall with a small piece of hard rubber hose and wrapped it with...
I found a way through the firewall on the passenger side of my 2014. No drilling required. There's a rubber grommet sitting there doing nothing as I recall. I'll see if I can get a picture during lunch.
What's your budget like for an antenna? Cushcraft makes a restricted space vertical. I have no experience with it but it gets pretty good reviews on eHam.

Why buy another cb antenna when there are single and multi band vertical amateur radio antennas on the market? The cb antenna is fine for 10 meters and maybe 12 but not 20. Something like a Hustler 4btv ground mounted or elevated with a few wire radials.
I made quite a few contacts 1D. 20 meters was lit up like a Christmas tree until well after 0500 UTC which is when I wimped out.. It was unbelievable. Here is a pic of scope on the IC-7300 at 0233 UTC. Pre-amp turned off. Keep in mind that hf is dead...LOL
I drool over the LP100a but my ham fund is kaput for a while. So seeing Klondike using one for QRP on a poorly tuned antenna upsets me...LOL just kidding!
