If I use the SGS thompson and the Fairchild chip works great yes on some you go to the channel up or down but this circuit does that for you eliminates doing the toggle up down or middle up. its either on or off and when you go to the A channels if the toggle is on it will auto get the A...
So i have been using this little circuit for over 10 +years and i even have it submitted in a Secret cb volume.
Its for the mb8719/mb8734 pll where you cut trace on pin 16 so you can get the A channels 3a 7a 11a 15a and 19a. Also on any channel mods it will fill in the missed channels.
The...

I tried my 3 crystal diode switching oscillator on my 959 and works great on AM 40 up and 40 down on AM but no tuning of ssb need the viagra board that has separate tuning for AM and SSB.
Just watched the video, interesting on how simple to get a circuit to power the display.
Like you said the display might be bad and im satisfied that the radio is working now. Cobra/Uniden should of had a better supply or way to illuminate the displays
in these radios. Almost everyone has gone...
Brandon
Thats a mouthful LOL im just gonna trash it.
No good to me and will never go back in the radio.
There is not much to these 3 transistors some caps and thats about it.
So what and why is there a big problem in fixing these to work again.
So are these 13v in and the 90-100v out for the...
If anyone interested in the power supply for the night watch on a 148gtl here is the small pc board i removed from the metal box. few transistors and some electros and other parts to generate AC voltage to the front panel.
Well after screwing around and playing with pin 3 I was able to put a diode on pin 3 inside the radio in series with the wire to pin 3. and now the noise box will work properly as it should.
I want to use this 148 as a test radio because ssb and also its a 4 pin, all boxes are wired for 4 pin...
Brandon.
Here is how the box works.
It has an SD card mp3 player.
I have designed the boards so there is a reverse and forward search buttons on the box.
And also and auto advance when you key the mic a different sound will play every time or you can lock your favorite sound.
The way the...
So i was back at the radio and removed the Night Watch module.
Then had to figure the wires and voltage for the channel display/meter and the LEd for receive and transmit all is good in that department.
Still having problems on the mic on pin 3 im getting 1.4 volts in receive nothing in...
The reason I asked for the voltage is I use a noise toy box on my cobra 29 and works great for 5 years, I tried on this 148 and will not key up. The pin 3 does not go to ground when keyed. So the sd card box will work with a manual push of a switch but will not key auto pin 3 needs to see ground...

I'll have to look and see if i can unplug the module that is mounted to the side covering the pll area. I guess the nightwatch was a big big failure for these radios.
Why not illuminate the front with leds or some type of fiber optic.
Brandon7861.
I did the mod as you pictured and the heat is much better i dont talk long mic keys so I think it will be fine. Again thanks for your help.

Thanks for your post also with the pictures and info you provided. I think the schematic you posted is close but still...
Brandon yes you are correct its steel. I will move it over tomorrow to the back like in the picture you posted. I will update later tomorrow and thanks for all your help.
The original regulator was all plastic and did not need any insulators.
With the tip41mit has the metal back so I have to add the mica insulators and used plenty of thermal grease. Yes I can give that a try im going back down to the radio and see if it steel or aluminum its mounted to.
AM regulator to the side of the chassis.
am regulator and very little draw on the power supply it has an amp meter and barely moves. the tranny and heatsink both get hot, of course the tranny get much hotter.
