Thanks Robb, I don't want the adaptor and I should have noted that I already have the unused plug. It's not difficult, I realize, I was just hoping for some confirmation from someone who had done it. Thanks again though.
Hi all. I'm hoping someone can take me through the basics of re-wiring a 4-pin D104M6b for use on a RCI/Ranger 2950dx (2012/6-pin). I found a basic pin diagram on CB Tricks, but would prefer someone to confirm wires to pins. I don't want an adaptor and am aware I will lose the channel changing...
Likewise Robb...thank you. That helped fill the minor gaps in the manual's specs regarding procedure and details like Mic Gain/USB. Thank you!!!! B/w the tone generator, manual, your rundown, and everyone's advice/guidance, I hope to do this tonight. With a lot better understanding than I had a...
Things are beginning to take shape. Thank you for the info Robb. I'm getting a better idea of what I can and can't do. What I don't want is the channel 6 crap so this is great.
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I believe I may have set my sights higher than my equip/knowledge can muster. But I am eager to start somewhere...doing at least some of it on my own w/o a PhD in Electronics or an $800 Birdmeter, lol. Thanks again Unit_399
Thank you. It (tech manual) certainly looks more complex than the 15 minute quickie-tune-ups from 3 diff cb shops I've utilized for previous peak/tunes/radios (which is all I wanted to do myself). Is there a specific order that I need to do what you recommended and/or just crossreference the...
First Post. Thank you for your time!
Would anyone be able to post a step-by-step, basic, rundown of the correct order of procedure and potentiometer-adjusting for a d.i.y. Peak/Tune/Frequency-Check to a 148GTL (Taiwan)? Including the SSB settings.
I seem to have located "bits and pieces"...
Thanks for the link Mike. I had no luck finding it myself, so thank you. I certainly won't be asking that much for it but it is clear it has never been used and comes with box and instructions to boot. Thanks again everyone for your help.
Thanks for the reply The DB! The pdf you provided came with the antenna, but apart from the SWR stuff, the rest is Greek to me. I take it this antenna is for ham radios then. Any idea what it might be worth? I'm not looking at it from a money-making perspective, I just have no use for it and...
Hi everyone,
I recently acquired this "Antenna Specialists Co." antenna and I'm pretty certain it is not for CB because of the MHz. I hooked it up to my home-based Cobra 148GTL through a SWR meter and that became quickly apparent. But I'm pretty new to all of this. What is this used for? Is it...
A saint and a gentleman...thanks!
I lied, 2 'final' questions:
1) Is there any particular layout I should strive for with the 2 dipoles? In other words should I try to place it in an inverted 'V' position, or circular, or I may even be able to stretch it between two windows outside against...
W5LZ, you couldn't have explained it any better for me!! Thanks, of course, to all, as I've been a 'work in progress', but that was a perfect, detailed, description. Last question on the dipole...does the length of the coax from the radio to the insulator matter? Does it need to be in certain...
Thanks for the words of encouragement SuperDave. Any chance you could tell me how you built it and with what parts? The simple version, of course. Thanks.
P.S. Are there any other used SSB makes/models (besides the 148) (please include any relevant info such as "don't buy ones made in China, or don't buy 90's models" etc.) that you might recommend? Keep in mind, I'm limited to around $70-80.
Thanks. I'll shut up now. :-)
So glad I posted here! I have a lot to learn (wavelength/freq lengths, balun etc.) but am excited about it! Still can't imagine a radio giving me access to anything beyond S.W. Ohio, but apparently so. Very cool. Still can't imagine how, but very cool!
Just to let you know, I have now decided...
