Definitely an external speaker, good idea taking the covers off. Do you guys put anything on the antenna hole to prevent rust? I'm using a NMO mount, if that makes any difference.
Thanks for the reply. I like the looks of the RK56 and not their current quality. My 29 does fit width, but not length. That can be modified easier though, the dash cavity goes back and down to the floor. Just a few pieces of plastic need to go. Along with the CB is going a Kenwood single din...
Has anybody ever tried to do an in dash Galaxy 979 install? The dimensions are a little bigger than a cobra 25. I have a cobra 29 that does fit in the dash, so I'm not to worried about it fitting. I couldn't find any pics on the internet, so I was just wondering. Also, how easy/hard would it be...
Doesn't the Wilson 5000 have a silver plated coil? I heard that the antennas are made by Barjan and they are completely the same except for the name on the base.
I'm doing okay on the tech practice test with my previous CB and WWDX fourm experience :) I might have to get a study book for the general. I'm constantly in study mode with my profession, schooling and now amateur radio. I'll probably get a 2m mobile and save for a proper HF base setup.
Thanks for all the replies. So, there are more people on HF than 2m/70cm? With DX leaving and not many people on CB there is nothing to do. I hope there are more locals/clubs/contests stuff like that on Ham frequencies.
It's interesting to see new antennas hitting the market, there must be some consumer demand, unless they were already produced in the UK and they just opened up to the US. I was just curious about them. It's a 10K world for me, unless a Sirio somehow falls onto my car. :)
The link goes to the page that all products are listed on. The President antenna lineup is in the middle. You want me to link all 4 antennas with 4 different links?
Well... 2m/70cm bands are pretty active. Having a tech licence I could use both. As far as SSB, I always wanted to try it, but I never had a CB/SSB radio. Now that I'm leaving CB I didn't want to buy another CB just for SSB.
DX # 785. I can't believe Optimas arnt made anymore. Weren't they available last year? What happened? I think I might get the Uniden 980, but I've heard of the radio getting fryed with a minor tune-up and sometimes no tune-up. Can't justify a 300+ radio for CB, I think I'll just get my ticket...
I'm pretty sure it was Daytona Beach. You didn't sound bad at all. I was running my 29 LX through a little wil in Arizona at the time. Wish I had payed better attention at the time haha.
Sorry, I ment to say the actual shaft, not the knob. Needless to say, glueing is not going well...
It's time for a Kenwood or an Optima!
222DBFL do you get on 28 AM very much? I talked to a unit 222 in Florida this winter. Was that you or another 222?
Thanks for the replies. I may try glueing it. It had to be crappy QC or shipping because I have only used this radio a few times this past winter. This may be the perfect excuse for a SSB radio or getting into ham. :)
Hey guys, my cobra 29 LX has a loose volume/squelch knob. I took the covers off and didn't see any screws or anything to tighten. Is there an easy fix? Also, is this just an annoyance or is the knob going to break or be inoperable?
Thanks
I just downloaded an app for scanning (free). Works great! Even for digital and P25 systems. We'll see how much data it uses when not on WiFi. :) Thanks.
