Had a customer send me one that's NOS, included paper work has a schematic. Enjoy!
Hope this helps. Had a customer send in a NOS radio, the included paper work has a schematic. Hope this helps. Tiny
This will dramatically improve the carrier swing and modulation of this great micro CB.

You must be VERY careful if you do this modification as you are going to be soldering a through hole...
I have not had time in the past few weeks to figure more the Ares 2, however got it on the bench again now and trying to figure out where I left off, lol;-)
Hi there, I'm working on an Ares 2 at the moment, the normal mod with the AM regulator only works well with a dead key over 4 watts so far. I'll update as I make progress. ;-)
If your familiar with the Diode/resistor mod I do on these types of boards, replace the resistor with a 1k variable resistor and you can quite nicely control the top end.
"Swang's the Thang"!
Always haters, aren't there? Haters forget that adjusting the mic gain can control the wave form pretty well. Keep up the good work!
I just got an Ares 2 in today and will start learning about it including the engineering menu stuff over the next few days. I'll touch base with you and let you know what I think if you'd like.
Send me an image of the component side of the board in the AM regulator area and I should be able to tell you were to solder in the parts to make it swing well.
Install 1n914 or 1n4148 diode, cathode to the center leg of AM regulator trace as pictured. Make sure you don't accidentally short the leads on the cap your soldering the anode end of the diode to.

President Andy 2 FCC & Thomas FCC:
Lift the leg of the SMD transistor (circled in Red) pointing to rear of radio. This is the Modulation limiter.
To really open the carrier modulation, solder the cathode (banded end) of a 1n914 or 1n4148 diode to the center leg of the AM regulator and solder to...
I use a a static road devil on one of my any tones in a jeep, with excellent results. Pin one is audio pin 3 is transmit pin 5 is ground. True you lose the ability to make adjustments and change channels etc if you wire up a different microphone for it, however I'm a believer and once the radio...
Don't ever buy anything that has the components hidden in epoxy or such, more than likely you're buying snake oil, all of the wires but two probably are not hooked up to anything inside the goop. put the diode and resistor in for your swing mod and you will be more than happy. If you want to...
Hi shadetree, Anytone 5 5 5 5 and 5555 n both have pretty much the same identical PA stage. It is a one driving two mosfet p a stage. The swing Mod mentioned previously will also work with the quad 5 radio. I own a couple of quad fives and find them to be outstanding radios. To be honest, I've...
You bet. I have picked up a lot of bits and pieces of information from this forum and another one and thought I would share some knowledge I've gained with everyone. Shoot me a call if you want a quick walk-through. I'm listed under tiny's CB shop. Happy modulating!
