I just found a service manual for the cobra 2000.That will help me trace the problems.

Not getting the 10.240 signal to the pll .even put in a different one. didn't make any difference.Do not care about clarifier....just put it back to stock.

Now it croaked again.All channels at 25.9100.

Any ideas where to start looking?I am getting 25.9070 on all channels. Could it be a bad PLL chip?

Its alive again!!!!! Found a wire that was completely missing on board! PA works,channel and TX & RX led changes with mic keying. Heres comes round two.Yup it would be easier just buying a good one but it feels good bringing something back from the dead.Just look at me!

I seem to not have ground on the board.i have source voltage but no connection to the places on the board that's supposed to be ground.Checked screws everything. Getting ready to throw this thing in the trash.cobra 148 radio is totally dead..

Looks like r144 is missing also.What about d52?So the black wire from the pot goes to ground? and other goes to 8 volts?

The clarifier didn't work at all (must have not used right conversion) It acted like I installed a switch to slide freq.I have 3 different cobra 148's and all different wiring,(colors also) .just dropped all channels 10 kc's.so I returned it back to normal and yes I adjusted it and it is smack...

I have a China cobra 148gtl that I want to unlock the clarifier but the china radio now has a plug with 2 red wires and a black wire on it. Any one know how to unlock it? I tried some other conversions but did not get any luck just a 10 kc drop. Thanks,

Isn't that what they call "Talk Back" ? Getting off the subject,That 148 I picked up with the Radio Shack eq Franked to it, (still dead as a door nail). I picked up another one(148) to see what was removed /botched up and to my luck it is a China model.This ones is 2 kc over everything. Anyone...

Think an EPT board Pll shows Ranger name on it.
