Uniden PC66XL Service Manual/Mods ???

Hi,

I have restored a Uniden PC66XL radio back to working order.
I'm having a problem locating the service manual for this radio.
Is the service manual the same as another Uniden/Cobra radio ?

Could be wrong; but I think it uses the same tune-up specs as the Cobra 25.

If you compare the component location found on the link above and it is the same as your radio; then it is a fair bet that the tune-up info is correct . . .

I agree, the 66 should be just about the same as a Cobra 25 from that era.

Yes I have one of those pc66xl st that's 1 kc off channel.
Looking for quick fix.

Pretty sure the "XL" version is close.

Just one problem. No adjustment for frequency in this radio.

None. Doesn't have one.

If the crystal drifts with 25 years of age and use, there is no adjustment to compensate.

A new crystal might be closer, might not. Not all 10.24 MHz crystals are the same.

To trim the old crystal starts with knowing whether it is running at too high a frequency.

Or too low. Putting a trimmer cap in place of C111 might bring the frequency up a bit.

Putting a small inductor in series with the crystal would bring it down some.

But only if you have that stuff on hand to try.

Cobra 25. I agree with nomadradio. Have a 66 and there seems to be only thing to do is find another crystal and trim it. Mine drifts a little, and will need new crystal.
