The new version is called a OmegaForce and has the blue LED's, 2 ERF2030 mosfet finals, and speech proccesser and the topgun modulater from the factory. That would be the best way to go. I bet that link is probably old. They dont make the delta force anymore.
Not going to be easy.. you would have to reprogram the MCU and tell a pin to do that in the code of the chip. It is not something most people could, or even know how to do.
I had the opportunity to work on one of these, and the only complaint I have is that it has a memory battery.. I havent seen one of those in a radio for at least 15 years.. As for the rest of it. it worked pretty good.
ranger has made a lot of radios that are all SMD. They are generally not accepted well by a lot of shops. I am guessing its because they have a hard time keeping that radio shack soldering GUN from hitting all they traces at once... lol the cobra 200 and 150 are all SMD also.
The voltage should be 13-14 volts DC. What kind of radio are you hooking this into? Generally when there is a distortion heard it is due to poor ground. I would try hooking the ground somewhere else and see what happens..
Thats a kewl pic. I have seen some 2sc1969's with a huge hole in them, and TA7222AP audio amps with giant parts of them missing.. and some 2sc2879's that had the tops blown right off them ! it's amazing what a semiconductor will do when the fuses are jumped out and the conditions are right ...
I have found that usually turning down the bias a lot lower then where the factory has it adjusted will make it last in there. I think they just have it turned way too hot to last. I havent seen anything that is easy to do to replace it with. You can use the ERF2030, but you have to bend the...
I would take it to somone else that is familiar with CB's, that radio is the same as a lot of others and someone that does it everyday RARELY looks at a schematic if they have been doing this for a while...
If the problem is on both USB and LSB here is what I would suspect. It could be the carrier OSC. out of tune as mentioned in a previous post by Molecule, Or there could be another problem. On AM the Final and Driver are "turned down" to about 6 volts or so (depending on what the carrier is set...
I was just wondering.... If this has Bias other then class C, then why does it look like it still has wire wrapped ferrites going to ground off the back of the input wideband transformers? Am I missing something here? Or were these pictures taken prior to actually hooking up the bias circuit? I...
If you have a S980 Sam will have you send it to me. I am the warranty center for Magnum on the west coast, And have the most experiance with them. There are some critical bias adjustments, a part change in the loop filter, two bypass caps, and a shield plate addition. after these changes, You...
If you could give a little more info on the type of problem you are having I might be able to help you. Start with serial number, description of SSB problem (I am assuming you are talking about transmit from the ERF2030 mention). On early magnums that have the ERF2030 finals some were not biased...
swing is a good thing. i cant tell you how many times i have went to CH6 and heard some guy key up at a S 15 signal, then modulate and swing backwards to a S 9. obviously forward swing sounds a lot better then a over driven carrier level. HOWEVER. I have also seen radio set ups that depending on...
if you decide that you would like to have it fixed, or any other upgrades to your unit, i am the west coast authorized service center for magnum international. but if it is just the meter, i would try re adjusting VR8 to fix it before you spend any money on it. hope this helps !!
the echo on the 4300-300 sounds terrible. once you get it, you will find out.. everyone of these that i have sold has come back wanting to upgrade the echo because of that, and the talkback is all over the place from the factory, so the best solution for that is to replace it with full variable...
The analog S-meter is adjustable, and after you replace the S-meter, it needs to be calibrated. the adjustment for this is VR8 on the PCB.Thie will only affect Transmit. There are seperate adjustments for RX on AM and SSB. The digital S meter is not adjustable. Hope this helps !
